Karachi (PR): Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Mian Abrar Ahmad, Younus Muhammad Bashir, Zia Ahmed Khan in a press note, stated that My-Karachi, Oasis of Harmony Exhibition 2012 successfully concluded while achieving the desired objectives. They said that honourable Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah inaugurated the exhibition on 13th July, 2012 at Expo Centre Karachi. Guests of Honour were Provincial Minister for Industries & Commerce M.A. Rauf Siddiqui, Chairman Sindh Board of Investment Zubair Motiwala, Deputy High Commissioner of India Gopal Baglay, Minister (Trade) Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi Naeem Anwar, Immediate past President of Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry Ashok Barat, Consul General of Indonesia Rossalis R. Adenan and Consul Generals and diplomats from friendly countries.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah in his speech acclaimed the efforts of the Leadership and Office Bearers of KCCI to regularly organize My-Karachi Exhibition to depict particularly the true picture of Karachi as financial, industrial & commercial hub and generally Pakistan as a peaceful country having immense natural resources and trade potential. He said that exhibition’s message reflect ownership for everyone to play due role to own Karachi and Pakistan. If Pakistan has to take its deserving place among the worldwide nations, collectively as a Nation everyone has to work hard to develop its economy on the sound and strong pillars with ability to compete with the emerging economies.
Mian Abrar Ahmad in his welcome speech reiterated that Pakistan don’t need aid but trade and perception of Pakistan worldwide needs to be depicted with reality and in a positive sense. He informed that KCCI was also gone international with the formation of Pak Afghan and Bombay Karachi Joint Chamber and the Chamber was enterprising to promote regional trade particularly in SAARC block and generally with ECO, GCC, ASEAN and Central Asian Trading blocks. In the Indian Pavilion 8 brands participated including Forbes, TATA Chemicals, EurekaForbes, Venus Lifestyle and others, whereas exhibitors from Indonesia also participated. High Level Business Delegations from India and Afghanistan also visited exhibition for B2B meetings. Particularly, Indian exhibitors received very encouraging response from the visitors including the Pakistan and Afghan buyers and international participants maintained successful B2B & B2C interaction. This year over 700,000 people visited “My-Karachi, Oasis of Harmony Exhibition”, making it another success story for KCCI, he concluded.
Chairman Sindh Board of Investment, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala stated that KCCI’s My-Karachi, Oasis of Harmony Exhibition is successful venture to depict the soft and real image of Karachi as peaceful city & economic, financial and industrial capital of Pakistan and 9th sequel of exhibition endorse the achievements of the regular event to promote commercial and industrial activities. This event had gained due recognition of national and international exhibitors since last 8 years. KCCI started this mega exhibition in 2004 with the initiative of Siraj Kassam Teli, the then President of KCCI, which received acclamation on both National & International forums. He said that “My-Karachi Exhibition” also created awareness & conveyed a message to the Karachiites to own their great city Karachi and the homeland Pakistan, whether the person belonged to trade, industry, entrepreneur, education, services sector or any sphere of life. Shedding light on the aim of SBI to promote and enhancement investment opportunities in Sindh, he informed that Government of Sindh, being committed to uplift the economy of Karachi, particularly and Sindh generally, is offering excellent investment opportunities to the local and foreign investors.
Leader of Indian Delegation and immediate past President Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry Ashok Barat stated Bombay-Karachi Joint Chamber was formed on the initiative of Indo-Pak Commerce Ministries and it was a productive move towards boosting trade between two port cities as well as two Nations. He also invited KCCI to organize an exhibition of Pakistani products with the collaboration of Bombay Chamber in Mumbai.
Various prominent personalities including Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistan Dr. Farooq Sattar, Acting Speaker Provincial Assembly of Sindh Shehla Raza, Coordinator to Chief Minister Sindh Sharmila Farooqi and MNA Khawaja Sohail Mansoor also visited My-Karachi 2012 to witness the exhibition. From Diplomatic Corps, Consul General of Turkey Murat M. Onart, Consul General of Japan Masaharu Sato, Consul General of Indonesia Rossalis Rusman Adenan, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Ruhul Alam Siddique, Commercial Counsellor of Vietnam Nguyen Hong Tien and Diplomats of Russia, France, Korea, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan also visited. They congratulated the leadership and Office Bearers of KCCI for featuring the exhibition regularly since 2004.
