AWARENESS AGAINST DRUGS SHOULD BE CREATED AMONG STUDENTS- MUKESH KUMAR CHAWLA

Karachi, August 08:  Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that reading material against use of drugs should be made part and parcel of syllabus at primary and secondary level in order to create awareness among students. This he said while talking to a delegation of students of a private university here at his office on Tuesday. Professor Mirza Khalid Raza led the delegation. Provincial Minister said that drugs were poison and it destroyed the young generation. If proper education was taught to the
students, it was sure that they would never use drugs in future.

    He added, ‘Present democratic government is fully aware of the problems of young generation. It is a good fortune to Pakistan, that majority of population is consisted of young men. It is the need of the hour that this power should be streamlined in proper direction’. Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that it was the duty of the government to keep the young men away from drugs and the government was fulfilling its duty properly.

    He requested the teachers community to play their positive role in eradicating drugs in the society. They should conduct seminars and debates in their educational institutions so that they might create awareness against use of drugs. Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla informed the students about measures taken by his department to stop drugs.

PILLION RIDING, CARRYING/ DISPLAYING WEAPONS PROHBITED UNDER SECTION 144 IN KARACHI DIVISION 

Karachi, August 08: Government of Sindh, in exercise of the powers conferred under section 144 Criminal Procedures Code, has prohibited pillion riding on motorcycles/scooters, carrying/displaying of all weapons, playing/possession of audio/video containing provocative speeches and inciting sectarian hatred and assembly of 5 or more persons except Youm-e-Ali Procession/Majalis with effect from 19th to 22nd Ramazan-ul-Mubarak 1433-AH, provided that the aforesaid ban of pillion riding shall not be applicable on the women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, journalists, the personal of law enforcement agencies in uniform and employees of essential service in order to maintain law & order and to prevent such groups/elements from acting in a manner prejudicial to public safety and peace and maintenance of public order in Karachi Division.  In this regards, Home Department Government of Sindh has issued an order here on Tuesday the August 7, 2012.
