Karachi (PR): Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell, Jinnah International Airport Unit foiled an attempt to smuggle 3200 grams contraband Heroin out of Pakistan to UK.
According to details, Customs Drug Enforcement Cell’s staff of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, intercepted a Pak-Born British passenger Zahid Maqsood when he reached airport to board Emirates Airlines Flight EK-601 for Birmingham via Dubai. When the passenger Zahid could not furnish satisfactory replies to Customs questioning, his baggage comprising two hard top suitcases was subjected to examination. The suitcases which apparently contained personal belongings of the passenger were in fact used to artfully concealed in false cavities which on completion of recovery process was found to be 3200 grams worth millions in international market. As per passport, the passenger had traveled thrice between Pakistan and UK since September, 2012 with short stays in Pakistan.
Consequent upon recovery & seizure of contraband heroin, the accused passenger has been arrested and a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered. Efforts are afoot to apprehend the Mafia involved in the offence.
