Karachi (PR): Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell, Jinnah International Airport Unit foiled an attempt to smuggle 1600 grams contraband Heroin out of Pakistan to Maldives Islands.
According to details, the Customs Drug Enforcement Cell’s staff posted at Express Mail Service (EMS), Shara-e-Faisal, Karachi for checking and clearance of outward international mail intercepted an outgoing parcel declared to contain “crockery” that was booked from a sender in Abbotablad for an address in Maldives Islands. Thorough checking of the consignment revealed
that contraband heroin packed in polythene packets was concealed in specially built cavities in bottom portions of an aluminum-steel cooking pans set. It took Customs staff a considerably long time to retrieve 1600g Heroin concealed in a novel manner.
Consequent upon recovery & seizure of contraband heroin, prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered. Efforts are afoot to apprehend the Mafia involved in the offence.
