Karachi: The dengue virus has claimed one more life in the province of Sindh on Friday which pushed the tally of total deaths to 29 in the province so far this year, said the report of Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh (DSCS).
Sixty-three years old male patient who was the resident of Hyderabad succumbed to the viral disease on November 21st. He was admitted to a hospital on November 11 while his death case reported to DSCS on Friday.
This is third death case due to dengue fever in Hyderabad so far this year while one patient lost his life due the virus in Mirpurkhas as well.
According to the cell report four more dengue cases were reported in Karachi on Friday as 4171 cases have been reported for far this year in the metropolis. On other hand 629 cases of dengue virus have already been reported in rest of the province. In Hyderabad on Friday four more cases were also detected which pushed to victims tally to 569.
The dengue fever has been devastating in the current and last month in the province in general and specifically in Karachi.
The dengue virus has already claimed 25 lives in the metropolis so far this year. In November five death cases due to dengue virus have been reported so far from Karachi, two from Gulshan-e-Iqbal and two from Orangi Town while one was reported from Mahmoodabad.
Sixteen years old male patient who was the resident of Orangi Town expired at a hospital on November 20.
Previously another male patient who was 65 years old and belonged to Orangi Town as well had expired on November 7.
Twenty-three years old male patient who was the resident of Mahmoodabad expired on November 6. Thirty-four years old patient belonging to Gulshan-e-Iqbal fell victim to the virus on November 4 and it was reported to the cell on November 5. Another patient aging 30 years and male by gender expired on November 3. He was the resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The month of October had also proved to be disastrous regarding spread of dengue virus in the metropolis as it caused deaths of nine persons in the month.
Last year it had claimed four lives including a woman while 700 had suffered through it. In 2011, 858 dengue cases were reported and 16 persons had died due to the viral disease.
