Pakistan:Overload’s song Ankahi has been nominated as the song of the year by the prestigious Lux Style Awards for 2013. In addition, Farhad Humayun, who is producer, drummer and lead vocalist for the band, has also been nominated as Best Video Director for Ankahi. This is Overload’s4^th nomination and Farhad Humayun’s 7^th.

Speaking with regard to Overload’s nomination, founding member of the band and composer of Ankahi SherazSiddiq says, “Ankahi’s nomination comes to me as a very pleasant surprise not only for the reason that its Overload’s seventh LSA nomination since 2006 but also for the fact that our audience and critics are encouraging art over entertainment. It does not matter if we win or lose. What matters is that art is encouraged and patronized.”

The lyrics for Ankahi were written by Tahir Shaheer while the video took three grueling days and nights to shoot by Sabeeh Khan – Director of Photography. A total of a 120 cast and crew members were involved in producing this song, making it the biggest production to date by Overload. The lyrics and video of the song combine to reflect the current socio and political state of Pakistan. The video not only features legendary film actor Nadeem but also portrays graceful dancer Nighat Choudary and the renowned Naveed Shahzad.

Overload came together in 2003 as a Pakistani rock band from Lahore. They are regarded as the ‘Loudest band in Pakistan’ by many. Other members of the band include SherazSiddiq, keyboard/synth player, songwriter and composer and NasirSain, one of the top dhol players in the world.

Since the band’s inception in 2003 they have released two studio albums and

one live album. Their first album, self-titled Overload, charted at the number one spot on the Pakistan music charts. Overload has won a number of awards over the years as well as the award for Best Live Act from Pakistan. In more recent years they have taken the international arena by storm with their performances in festivals and solo concerts in Japan, Sri Lanka, Norway, UAE and UK.

Overload is constantly bringing something new to the music scene by collaborating with various musicians and artists from around Pakistan. Everybody looks forward to seeing what they bring us in the future.
