KARACHI: The job of a diplomat is to bring people together and what better way than to have festivals promoting the food of different countries. This was said by Deputy Head of Mission Daniel Tarshish of the British Deputy High Commission while inaugurating the British Food Festival which began last evening at Pearl Continental Hotel.
The British diplomat said that biryani and curry had become the favourite foods of Britons and many establishments having these delicacies on their menus in the UK, did a roaring business. He said he hoped the Pakistani people would enjoy the festival which he hoped would make the people understand the culture of the United Kingdom.
General Manager of Pearl Continental Karachi Azeem Quraishi welcomed the British diplomat and asked him for the formal inauguration of the festival. Speaking on the occasion, he said a European Food Festival would be held every Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm at Marco Polo restaurant. He added that the Pearl Continental Karachi had made special arrangements for Karachiites to savor delectable European cuisines in an extraordinary ambiance and have an unforgettable experience. He asked food lovers not to miss out on this festival.
