JAMSHORO (PR): Vice Chancellor University of Sindh, Dr. Nazir A. Mughal has paid rich tributes to founding father of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, philosopher and great thinker Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal on the eve of independence day and said that 14th august was a day of great happiness for the nation adding that this day reminded we educated community to stand united and work for the betterment of education and progress of the university.
He was addressing a gathering on the eve of Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony at Hyder Bux Jatoi Pavilion, university of Sindh, Senator Aajiz Dhamrah, faculty members, officials and a number of employees participated. Vice chancellor said that 14th August is a day of happiness for all of us and worth thinking for educated community that being a nation where are we going.
He said Pakistan came into being after thousands sacrifices of human lives and these sacrifices were given by our forefathers adding that it is our duty to educate our children regarding the sacrifices of our ancestors by which the creation of Pakistan became possible.
Dr. Mughal further said that extremism had got birth in our Sindhi community which compelled Hindu community to migrate from different parts of Sindh including Larakana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur and Ghotki adding that such news appearing in newspapers hurt us to a great extent. “This is really a thing of great concern that Hindu community is migrating from the country to India”. He said.
“Sindh is the land of Sufis and saints, we should try to improve ourselves and avoid quarrels with one another as this day gives us the message of peace and tranquility”, he observed adding that it is imperative to make our children aware of discipline and rule of law so that they may become good citizens when they grow up.
Vice chancellor Dr. Nazir A. Mughal having paid rich tributes to the creator of Pakistan, said Quaid-e-Azam was a man of ideology and he changed his concept of all India after 1926, when he thought that in democracy there will be one man, one vote system which would keep the Muslims to be slaves of Hindus as they were in minority so Mohammad Ali Jinnah started striving for the separate country and finally succeeded on this day in 1947.
PPP Senator Aajiz Dhamrah addressing the ceremony said that we will have to understand the philosophy of independence adding that it’s a great blessing of Almighty Allah.
He said if anyone wants to know the value of independence, he should meet a prisoner who might be in prison sans any cases and be waiting for his release from it.
Mr. Dhamrah said that on today’s eve, if we don’t remember the name of Quaid-e-Awam along with Quaid-e-Azam, it will be impropriate adding that Mohammad Ali Jinnah gave the nation a separate country whereas Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave a constitution.
He said, the dictatorships have always suppressed the voice of people in Pakistan but the democracy has always given the freedom of expression to everyone.
In the ceremony, the minor girl students of Panah Ali Shah Model School for girls Marriam, Arisha and others sang national songs with their sweet and innocent voices to compel the audience to clap for their encouragement. Vice chancellor Dr Nazir A. Mughal and Senator Aajiz Dhamrah jointly announced Rs. 10 thousands for the students who performed.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah, pro vice chancellor hoisted the national flag at a ceremony held at Elsa Qazi Campus Hyderabad, where as Pro. Dr. Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, Pro. Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaeli, and Pro. Dr. Anwar Ali Shah G. Syed all pro vice chancellors participated at chief guests at their respective Sindh University campuses in Badin, Mirpur Khas and Dadu respectively.
