Independence Day Celebrated at Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi


Dubai (Correspondent): “I congratulate all community members living in the UAE on the Independence Day of Pakistan. Let us all realize the value of this gift bestowed on us by Allah Almighty and renew our commitment to serve Pakistan”, said Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan while addressing a large gathering of community after flag-hoisting ceremony held at Pakistan Embassy on the 66th Independence Day of Pakistan.

Ambassador Khan in his address urged the community to maintain the spirit of independence and pursue the cherished objectives of our forefathers. He emphasized that to achieve these objectives and goals every individual has to play his part with dedication and commitment to make Pakistan stronger and prosperous. He lauded the community for sending record US$ 2.8 billion remittance during the last fiscal year. Acknowledging the role played by Pakistani community in the development of the UAE, Ambassador Khan called upon them to work even harder to further strengthen the fraternal bonds of friendship between the two countries and continue having highest respect and regard to the local laws of Emirates.

“Today’s Pakistan is a stronger Pakistan. Today we are a nuclear power. We have the 7th largest army in the world. We have the world’s largest deep sea port.Pakistan is rich in natural resources. We are the second largest producer of wheat and third largest producer of cotton. Today we have a functional democracy”, said Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan. He said that current democratic dispensation in Pakistan is guiding the country towards prosperity and development. He further stated that we should have an immense satisfaction to note that Pakistan has achieved export target of US$ 25 billion this year in addition to start of mega projects like Basha dam, Coastal road and Gwadar port which has its national and international importance and can improve the economy of the country manifolds.
