JICA – TDAP THREE DAYS WORKSHOP TO INTRODUCE JIS (JAPAN NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL STANDARDS) FOR IMPORT OF TEXTILES PRODUCTS AT TDAP HEAD-OFFICE KARACHI ON NOVEMBER 5-7, 2012
Karachi (PR): JICA is supporting Trade Development Authority of Pakistan to promote exports of Pakistan-made products to Japanese markets. Textile exporters of Pakistan have established strong relationship with US and EU markets; however, they have little connection with Japanese market. The Pakistani companies who want to export or try to export their products to Japanese markets are confronted with much difficulty to understand the procedure of JIS (Japan Industrial Standard) that definitely differ from EU and USA ones.
In order to facilitate Pakistani exporters, JICA in collaboration with TDAP have arranged 3-days QTEC workshop on November 5th to 7th in conference room of TDAP Head Office located at FTC Building. The JICA trainer Mr. Kei Funaki, the Deputy General Manager of Japan Textile Products Quality & Technology Center QTEC has specifically arrived in Karachi to introduce the systems and procedures of JIS to Pakistani Textile companies on Textile/ Garments/Bed-sheets and home textiles.
The TDAP Chairman Mr. Tahir Raza Naqvi and Secretary, TDAP Mr. Kabir Qazi have appreciated the support of JICA for facilitating Pakistani Textile/Garment exporters to make a place in Japanese market, accordingly TDAP is providing all the needed support for this workshop.
The Three days QTEC Workshop has generated much interest amongst the big garments/textile exporting companies. There is good participation of the technical / professionals of the level of quality manager / chemist / Process Engineer / Quality Manager / R&D Manager / Lab In-charge from renowned companies like M/s. Gul-Ahmed, M/s. Lucky Textiles, M/s. Mustaqim, M/s. Liberty, M/s. Orient, M/s. Rajby and instructor from M/s. PHMA institute of knitwear, M/s. SMA Rizvi Textile, PRGTI, PREGMEA, GIA etc.
Mr. Kei Funaki, disseminated know how and techniques on Japanese National Quality standards. He briefed the participants on fabrics/garment testing methods for color fastness to perspiration, washing/laundering techniques, gray scaling for assessing, rubbing, washing, different test methods for chlorinated water, ATTS methods, breeding, primary test items and test methods for physical properties. He also introduced labeling of Textile goods, use of symbols and fabric and garment test procedures.
It may be mentioned that JICA is extending technical Assistance Program to Trade Development Authority of Pakistan since January, 2010 after approval by Ministry of Commerce / EAD. The Phase-I Program of two years have been completed in 2012 and Phase-II program is in the pipeline under which the JICA Advisor Mr. Yuji Aoki, has chalked out a very vigorous and action oriented program involving TDAP and private sector for promotion of Pakistan products to Japan particularly garment/bed-linen, Mango and Surgical & Medical Instruments.
