Karachi (PR): “Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) lauds and appreciates the efforts the Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan for taking serious notice of power load-shedding in the industrial zones and increase in the power load-shedding spells in the commercial and residential areas and to bring the SSGC and KESC officials on the table to resolve the conflict between the utility providers while reaching an agreement.”, this was stated by President KCCI Muhammad Haroon Agar. He appreciated that like in the past, the Governor Sindh took serious notice of increased unscheduled load-shedding and intervened while calling the heads of utilities and finally to reach an agreement for the larger interest of the industries and Karachiites and exempt all industrial areas for load-shedding and curtail load-shedding in the commercial and residential areas of Karachi. Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan is always thoughtful for the prosperity of Karachi in particular and Sindh province in general. He has always taken keen interest for business and people friendly measures, maintain peace, law and order, infrastructure development, health and education services, he added.
President KCCI Haroon Agar also appreciated the Interim Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Sohail Wajahat and Secretary Petroleum Abid Saeed for their support to sign agreement between SSGC and KESC for supply of required quantum of gas to KESC to fire the power stations to curtail power load-shedding as the KESC cannot fully operate on furnace oils. He voiced that after reaching the agreement with SSGC, the KESC must adhere regular gas supply in all the seven industrial zones of Karachi.
KCCI’s President Muhammad Haroon Agar also asserted upon the need to uninterrupted power supply in all the industrial zones to smooth turn the wheels of industries with rapid pace to uplift the economy, enhance exports, generate more employment opportunities. He stated that the new Government must accord top priority to resolve energy crises utilizing all resources available on war-footing basis. Due to recent industrial load-shedding by KESC owing to gas curtailment by SSGC, the industrial activities were severally hampered and came to standstill. With the intervention of Governor Sindh which has been resolved now. Haroon Agar also urged the newly elected government to resolve the conflict of payments between KESC and SSGC to address it once for all so that the biggest metropolitan city of Pakistan having the largest industrial base of over 16000 industries, 500 markets and commercial centres and 20 million population must not suffer with the menace of power load-shedding in the future.
