KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaf (PTI) PS-112 MPA Khurrum Sherzaman blasted the Education Department for non-payment of electricity bills leading to a number of schools in Karachi having to operate in the dark.
Mr. Sherzaman blasted the Education Department for its neglect and non-serious attitude that has led to 838 schools in Karachi operating without electricity, resulting in declining student attendance.
The Sindh Education Departments carelessness of not paying electricity bills of Rs. 20 million to K-Electric has led to this predicament. It is mind boggling that the Sindh Education Department has a budget allocation of around Rs. 160 billion for the current fiscal year but cannot pay electricity bills of Rs. 20 million to ensure all schools in Karachi have electricity.
The PS-112 MPA demanded that the Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Education Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar take immediate action to rectify this shameful situation.
