Karachi (PR): Multan’s women chamber has celebrated their new president Masuma Sibtain winning her case. At the first opportune moment ,recently with TDAP’S collaboration a fashion show and a handicraft exhibition took place in MULTAN.
Unfortunately only three designers participated in the fashion show when there were many others that could be selected .The sad thing was that there was hardly any audience watching the show. The 3 day exhibition took place but with hardly proper advertisement or so the exporters did not have any sale..A total of 40 stalls were sold at Rs. 5000. The women entrepreneurs were mainly from Bhalwalpur, Multan, and DG Khan. There was no press coverage both in electronic and print media, as it should have been. This would have helped encourage the sales.
The total budget allocated by TDAP was 10000000/- for this event. But what use is it not organized properly, with no advertisement or posters. So this was worthless exercise !TDAP needs to see carefully who they are give responsibility in the TDAP office for their specialized events. The amount given was not small after all! Tamimi has been a fashion coordinator and a knows the art of pleasing the higher ups with models just to get the funds .He is definitely supported by many in TDAP who are part of the chain.
Apart from all this Ms. ANILA IFTIKHAR HAS AGAIN GONE TO COURT FOR A STAY FOR THE WOMEN CHAMBER…SO SHE IS MAKING SURE THAT NO WORK CAN BE DONE.
Sindh Women Chamber; A tussle seems to be brewing in relinquishing her post as Sindh women chamber EX-President Rukhasan Jehangir refused to give all important bank or other documents , required by the new president MS. Rizwana Shahid on DTO’S request. Madam Ruksana Jehangir hails from south Punjab originally and has recently resurfaced by getting a seat in the managing committee of FPECI. In her tenure of 2 years the women complained that no work was done in the chamber. She had places Ms Isbhani as a mere puppet and the new president Rizwana Shahid did not want the same to happen to her. The interesting thing was that Ms. Ruksana Jehangir though reluctantly has given her ok to Rizwana Shahid and had retained her own address , number , E-mail at the chamber.
Due to DTO’S objection to no records, a resolution was passed at a meeting of Sind women’s chamber with Rizwana Shahid president or Saeeda Bano vice president to discuss the calendar of events and to clearly select Rizwana Shahid as the new president.
Commerce Secretary commerce has been seen visiting only specific events held by the handicraft Association in Islamabad or Bhalwarpur , or making an effort to be there or giving awards but the Islamabad chamber was very surprised that despite their effort for the women’s Expo an annual event by the Islamabad women’s chamber, secretary commerce despite the invitation could not find the time to visit there.
Was this because of Shirin Arshad Khan who is an MNA and so gets more impodrtance.
This kind of support has Islamabad chamber wondering why this step fatherly treatment? Shirin Arshad Khan has been successful in getting a good amount of funds from TDAP and is seen actively to establish the handicraft association through fairs and retail outlets. The establishing of offices is still on the way.
