ISLAMABAD :H.E. Marcel de Vink started his tenure as Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Pakistan today by presenting his credentials to President H.E. Asif Ali Zardari.
Ambassador De Vink conveyed the best wishes of His Majesty King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands to Pakistan and its people and congratulated President Zardari on the historic achievement of the peaceful transition from one democratically elected government to another following the elections held last May. He underlined Dutch support with regard to the strengthening of peace, security and stability and underlined the importance of respect for human rights in Pakistan.
Ambassador De Vink highlighted the Dutch desire to intensify trade and investment ties between the two nations. Current bilateral trade stands at about 750 million U.S. dollars and well-known Dutch companies in Pakistan include AkzoNobel, Philips, Shell and Unilever.
President Zardari thanked the Netherlands for the support provided to Pakistan throughout the years and welcomed the Dutch intention to strengthen bilateral ties.
