Sindh Human Rights Commission - Mirpur Khas

Mirpurkhas: Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission Justice Retd Majida Rizvi has said that the purpose of the commission is to create a society that is free from violence and extremism, which creates an atmosphere of peace, interfaith, and justice. This she said while holding a meeting with all stakeholders including district and police administration, civil society, NGOs, and others at Darbar Hall here today. Justice Retd Majida Rizvi while giving the background of the establishment of the commission in 2008 after seeing a significant increase in the number of human rights violations. She held meetings nowadays to consult, obtain recommendations over the HR Violation by all stakeholders and redress the grievances personally look into the situation at the district level. she underlined the need for a committee at the district level in every department to prevent harassment and violations by nominating woman member to see and monitor the violation if any, and hold regular meetings send a progress report to the commission head office for taking action and devise a strategy accordingly. On the occasion, The DC Salamat Ali Memon and SSP Police Capt Retd Asad Choudhry extended their full support and cooperation to the commission and assured that they fully coordinated with the committee and the commission at all levels and send regular progress reports of the district HRs.The DC and concerned official apprised the position of Safe House, Shelter Home, Darulman, and informed other related issues. On the occasion representatives of civil society Mohammed Bakhsh Kapri, Shezado Malik President of Rotary Club Central, MS Pushpa Kumari Social Activist Nusrat Miano Advocate, Noor Ahmed Narejo Members of SHRC District Mirpurkhas, Representatives of local Trade and Business community Hanif-ur-Rehman Sheikh, Amin Memon, Jabar Khan, local Grower Mohammad Omar Bughio and notables of the various areas shared their views and raised some issues including shortage of teaching staff in schools, saltish water in local rivers at LBOD, shortage of consultant doctors in the local hospital, low salary in private educational institutions, daily wages of the labourers, sale of drugs/narcotics and other civic issues/problems. Over the issues Chairperson SHRC has directed the DC and is concerned to resolve these issues and problems on a priority basis so that the general public could get proper relief and make their routine life easy and comfortable, she concluded.
