SSGC Empowered Disabled Persons By Providing Them With Entrepreneurship

Karachi (PR): SSGC under its CSR program collaborated with a leading not-for-profit organization, the Association of Physically Handicapped Adults (APHA). The gas utility provided 5 tricycles motorbikes loaded with TUC shops to the Person With Disabilities (PWDs) so they to earn their livelihoods with dignity and without becoming dependent on anyone. In this regards a simple yet impressive ceremony was held at APHA House on March 26, 2022, in which Salman A. Siddiqui, Head of Corporate Communications, SSGC, was the Chief Guest. He handed over the keys of these tricycle motorbikes to their owners. [caption id="attachment_40293" align="aligncenter" width="696"] enewspaper.com.pk/SSGC 2[/caption] On this occasion Guest of Honour, Mrs. Mussarat Nasreen, Director Social Welfare, Govt. of Sindh, was also present whereas APHA was represented by its President Mr. Shareeful Muzaffar, General Secretary Mr. Nishat, and Vice Chief Patron Syed Khalid Husain, besides a number of their PWD members on a wheelchair. While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Siddiqui congratulated all five PWDs for embarking on a new journey of self-dependency with pride. He said that SSGC besides its prime role as a gas transmission and distribution company has been vibrantly pursuing its CSR program for over two decades in collaboration with selfless organizations like APHA. In their speeches, APHA officials registered their gratitude to SSGC for supporting them in their endeavors to provide entrepreneurship to the PWDs, enabling them to live a life with dignity. APHA established in 1975 is the largest voluntary social welfare organization in Pakistan that is engaged in the welfare and rehabilitation of PWDs, especially physically handicapped. APHA is endeavoring to eliminate problems and difficulties faced by PWDs in society on the basis of mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation.
