SSGC Tightens Grip On Gas Thieves In Quetta
KARACHI: SSGC has continued to tighten its grip on the miscreants involved in gas theft through its Operation Grift, the anti-theft drive being carried out in the Company’s franchise provinces of Sindh and Balochistan. A series of ten such raids were carried out in Quetta and surrounding to rein in miscreants stealing gas from direct line.
The raids were carried by SSGC’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS and CFTO) team and law enforcement agencies, on customers and non-customers engaged in gas theft in various areas of Quetta including Eastern by-pass, Saryab Road and Sibi Road. Most of the miscreants were caught stealing gas directly from domestic connection to run their commercial units which included pakwan centers, bakeries, milk shop, tandoori and other businesses.
Miscreants were also found stealing gas through tampered meters and regulators. The offenders saw their illegal lines being disconnected, while in tampering cases, meters were removed and sent to lab. FIRs were also lodged against some of the culprits, depending on the severity of the crime.
The total volume of load consumed was calculated as around 4,720 cubic feet from the ten raids that were undertaken. GM (Balochistan) is fully supporting the operation in Quetta. Crackdown against such customers will intensify in the future. (Please send your news, article, pictorial on our email address <editor@enewspaper.com.pk & or WhatsApp +923132434567)
