Karachi : SSGC’s efforts aimed at prosecuting the gas theft miscreants got a major boost when the Anti-Corruption Court (Central) Hyderabad announced a detailed judgment on pilferage in 2016 committed by Shahbaz CNG Station in Jamshoro Hyderabad.

It must be mentioned here that on March 29, 2016, a joint raid was carried out by SSGC’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) Department along with the Measurement, Sales, Billing, Distribution departments and FIA team on Shahbaz CNG Station. The team discovered that the CNG station was using gas directly for running its operations.
The teams after discovering the blatant theft of gas, succeeded in disconnecting the direct connection and gas supply of CNG Station. An FIR was lodged by the FIA after which the agency the CNG Station in custody for further investigations.

The case was aggressively prosecuted by SS&CGTO Prosecution Wing’s Muhammad Asif, DM (prosecutor) along with FIA and successfully culminated in the conviction of Shahbaz CNG Station’s staff and personnel and SSGC staff that colluded with the Station for supplying gas illegally.
In accordance with the Gas (Theft and Recovery) Act 2016, Syed Aijaz Shah, Partner and General Manager of Shahbaz CNG Station was sentenced for 10 years and fined Rs. 18 crore.
