Norway, Sweeden, France & Denmark  to Highest Schengen Visa Application  were Rejection  in 2021

Oslo Norway (By Ahmed Tanveer): Today according to  Schengen Visa Statistics show that in 2021, these four countries had the highest rejection rates of the visa applications submitted by travellers from third countries wishing to visit their territory. Applicants filing a Schengen visa application at the embassies, consulates and other visa centres of Denmark, France, Norway, and Sweden in 2021 were the most likely to have their application rejected, compared to the visa issuing services of the other Schengen Area countries. While Sweden leads the list, rejecting 30.6 per cent of the 22,260 visa applications received, the other countries stand as below: Norway – the visa authorities of which country rejected 26.2 per cent of the 9,895 applications they received France – the visa authorities of which country rejected 21.1 per cent of the 652,331 applications they received Denmark – the visa authorities of which country rejected 21.1 per cent of the 26,469 applications they received Belgium – the visa authorities of which country rejected 20.4 per cent of the 50,796 applications they received Malta – the visa authorities of which country rejected 16.2 per cent of the 4,295 applications they received The average rejection rate for all Schengen states in 2021 was 13.4 per cent. The total number of visa applications filed in the same year is 2,926,104, or 82.7 per cent fewer visa applications than in 2019. In 2019, before the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, when the Schengen Area embassies, consulates and visa centres were functioning normally, accepting and processing visas, the rejection rate stood at 9.9 per cent. In the same year, the countries with the highest rejection rates were Portugal (20.3 per cent), Malta (19.6 per cent), Belgium (18.8 per cent), France (16 per cent) and the Netherlands (13.1 per cent). In 2021, on the other hand, the countries with the lowest rejection rates were Luxembourg (1.2 per cent), Slovakia (2.7 per cent), Lithuania (2.8 per cent), and the Czech Republic (3.3 per cent), and Latvia (3.5 per cent). Regarding the highest number of applications rejected in 2021, the list is topped by France, which rejected 128,672 applications, followed by Spain with 69,863, and Germany with 53,987. The three are also the countries with the highest number of visa applications received in the same year, as follows: France – 652,331 Spain – 483,469 Germany – 346,284 Greece – 295,634 Italy – 212,806 Regarding the third countries with the highest rejection rates, the list is topped by Guinea-Bissau, with 53 per cent of the applications for a Schengen visa lodged by its citizens being rejected. Senegalese nationals are listed second with 52.2 per cent of their visa applications being rejected, and Nigerians third with 51 per cent of their applications turned down.
