Let’s Get India & Pakistan To Talk About Kashmir

Council on Pak US Relations, in an effort to better educate Americans on the challenges faced by the people of Kashmir and to curb terrorism in that area has started a nationwide educational campaign from Times Square NYC. The Campaign will entail lectures, literature and billboard ads across America. President of COPUR Shan Hamid said “Our ultimate goal is to bring peace to the region of India and Pakistan and the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir”.

The Campaign launched on February 5th 2018 as part of Kashmir solidarity day with a press conference in Times Square, NY, followed by distribution of thousands of fliers by hundreds of American – Pakistanis belonging to over twenty community organizations. The Digital Bill Board measuring 41’ high by 72’ wide was simultaneously launched in the heart of Times Square on Broadway between 45th and 46th street. A mobile billboard will be going around NYC starting from Times Square and ending at the United Nations. This campaign made its second stop in Chicago on February 7th with a mobile billboard campaign . The Pakistani American community was joined by members of the Indian – American community in Times Square Dr. Amarjit Singh President Sikh for Justice Foundation said “ we are all here to raise a voice for the rights of Kashmiris” Representatives from all provinces of Pakistan were at the launch event and showed solidarity as Pakistani-Americans.
