Oslo, Norway (By Ahmed Tanveer): #Norwegian Constitution Day is the #national day of Norway and is an official public holiday observed on May 17 each year. The government has decided to cancel the #17th May celebration in the town center due to the danger of infection associated with the #coronavirus Covid-19. #Norwegian Constitution Day is the national day of #Norway and is an official public holiday observed on May 17 each year. All over #Norway, children's parades with an abundance of flags form the central elements of the celebration. Each elementary school district arranges its own parade with marching bands between schools. The parade takes the children through the community, often making stops at home. In addition to the #Norwegian flags, people typically wear red, white and blue ribbons. #Norwegians wear traditional outfits, called bunad. There will be no #parades in the city center, or in any parts of #Oslo. Instead, local residents are urged to remain at home and follow the limited program of events on #TV and #online. Wreath laying ceremonies, concerts, #folk dances and events put on by religious communities will #takena place in different districts around Oslo. However, they can only be followed remotely. To reduce the risk of crowds gathering, the timing of recordings will not be announced.
