Anti-polio Campaign In Karachi Will Start From Monday. Arrangements Are Complete

Karachi: An anti-polio campaign will be launched in Karachi from September 21. The Karachi administration has completed the arrangements. A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi Sohail Rajput in his office in which the anti-polio campaign was reviewed in detail. Fayyaz Abbasi, Coordinator, Emergence Operations Center, Additional Commissioner One Asad Ali Khan, all Deputy Commissioners, The meeting was attended by Dr. Sohail Memon, Coordinator, Karachi Anti-Polio Task Force, representatives of World Health Organization, UNICEF, Rotary and Bill Gates & Melinda Foundation, Health Department and Police Officers and others. A detailed briefing was given. It was decided that the monitoring system would be made effective to make the anti-polio campaign a success. The micro-planning and monitoring system was reviewed in the meeting. The meeting was informed that more than 2.2 million children would be vaccinated against polio. Six thousand polio teams have been deployed for the campaign. It has been decided to strictly implement the SOPs in view of Corona. The Commissioner said that concerted and priority efforts should be made in Super High Risk Union Councils for the success of the campaign and eradication of the virus. He said that efforts should be continued to eradicate the virus and achieve the goal of polio eradication in these areas even after the stipulated monthly campaign. He said that he would personally visit these areas to assess the situation and meet the people. That anti-polio is a national goal, all Deputy Commissioners should play their role in their respective areas and take priority steps in sensitive union councils, liaise with community members and ensure that the people of the area get support.
