Another International Honor For Prof. Iqbal Choudhary

KARACHI: The People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China has decided to confer famous Pakistani scientist Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary the 2020 Guangxi Golden Silkball Friendship Award for his outstanding contribution to the economic and social development of Guangxi province of China.

According to a letter of the Chinese officials, written to Prof. Iqbal Choudhary, on the recommendation of Guangxi Normal University, the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has made a review and decided to award Prof. Choudhary and to present him with the medal and 100,000 RMB bonus.

The spokesman of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) said that the prize-awarding ceremony will be held in March 2021.

Prof. Iqbal Choudhary, the Director of ICCBS – the University of Karachi and COMSTECH Coordinator-General has been awarded this honor in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the economic and social development of Guangxi province of China, he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Choudhary has written and edited 76 books, most of which have been published in the USA and Europe. He is also the author of over 1,175 research papers and chapters in top international science journals of the West, as well as 40 US patents. He has been among the most cited scientists of Pakistan in the last five years with citations exceeding 27,407 (h-Index: 68). Prof. Choudhary has won several national and international awards, such as Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan, Pakistan. He is also a member of the prime minister’s National Commission for Science and Technology.

He received the prestigious title of “Distinguished National Professor” from the Higher Education Commission in 2004 and Meritorious Professor by the University of Karachi in 2013.

Vice-Chancellor University of Karachi Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi, and Prof. Atta-ur Rahman, ICCBS Patron-in-chief and Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology congratulated Prof. Choudhary for his achievement.
