Pacemaker Clinic Is A Milestone Towards The Modern And Complete Cardiac Hospital In Karachi

Karachi: Professor Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, Vice-Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences, has said that the establishment of Peacemaker Clinic is a step forward for the second largest public sector cardiology institute in Karachi city. The Dow Institute of Cardiology has given the best results in five years. More than one lac patients are being treated here annually. In early 2022, when the institute will celebrate its sixth anniversary, there will be pediatric cardiology, advanced cardiac imaging and valvular intervention programs will have been started.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the official inauguration of the Dow Peacemaker Clinic, which was held in the open air in front of the main entrance of the Dow International Medical College due to the implementation of Covid SOPs. Director Ojha Campus and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kartar Dawani, Chief Executive Officer of Dow University Hospital and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Zarnaz Wahid and Chairman Dow Institute of Cardiology Dr. Tariq Farman also spoke on the occasion while Dr. Zahid Azam Medical Superintendent Dow Hospital, Prof. Iftikhar, Dr. Haris Alvi, Dr. Rustam, Brigadier Shoaib, Prof. Amjad Sattar, and other teachers & students were also present.

Prof. Muhammad Saeed Quraishy said that the management of Dow University would extend all possible support for the advancement of the Institute of Cardiology and for the convenience of the patients coming in it. This is the second facility of public sector hospitals in the country as this clinic has been set up only in Dow Hospital after the National Institute of Cardiology. Professor Zarnaz Wahid said that in a short span of five years, the Dow Institute of Cardiology has made its identity and is rapidly moving towards a complete and modern heart hospital. The performance of this institution is satisfactory.

Dr. Tariq Farman said that with the establishment of this institute in 2016, diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases including angiography, angioplasty, and bypass surgery was started and postgraduate training was started the following year. While It has been offering Fcps Cardiology and Postgraduate Diploma from 2020. He said that work is underway this year on the establishment of Pediatric Cardiology, valvular Intervention Program, CT Scan of the Heart, and Advanced Cardiac Imaging for Cardiac MRI which will be completed by the end of this year. Vice-Chancellor Prof Muhammad Saeed Quraishy unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the Peacemaker Clinic. Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor distributed shields among the faculty and staff including Dr. Muhammad Faisal Khanzada.
