German Consul-General Visits ICCBS-University Of Karachi

KARACHI – German Consul-General in Karachi His Excellency Holger Ziegeler visited the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) on Thursday. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, ICCBS Patron-in-chief and Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, and Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General welcomed the German Consul-General at the ICCBS – University of Karachi. [caption id="attachment_32604" align="aligncenter" width="800"] enewspaper.com.pk/Karachi University[/caption] During his visit, the German higher official also had a meeting with Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman and Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, in which the areas of mutual interests were discussed. Prof Atta-ur-Rahman briefed the German diplomat about the outstanding services of late Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Voelter in the establishment of the ICCBS and support of the German government. During the meeting, Prof. Iqbal Choudhary also gave a detailed presentation about the massive activities related to science and research being carried out at the international center. Various projects for mutual cooperation were discussed. Mr. Ziegeler praised the industrial support and national services of the international center. He also commended the scientific infrastructure of the ICCBS, which includes laboratories, testing facilities, scientific instruments and equipment, clean rooms, and pilot plants. He emphasized the need to further nurturing excellent collaboration which exists between the ICCBS and German institutions. He declared this institution a living legacy of Pakistan's German cooperation in the field of higher education. He assured of the full support from his country to this premier research institution of Pakistan. In the end, Prof. Choudhary presented a shield, named after the eminent German scientist Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Voelter, to German Consul-General Holger Ziegeler.
