Karachi (PR): Zubair Ahmed Malik, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has condemned the lawlessness prevalent in different parts of the country – in particular, in the city of Karachi – which is a cause of serious concern to members of the business community. Citing the most recent example of the poor state of law and order in Karachi, he revealed that a prominent member of the business community, Sheikh Manzar Alam, who is Chairman of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Press and Media Affairs, had been gravely injured in an attempt on his life made by unknown miscreants.
He said that FPCCI condemns this attack in the strongest terms possible, and it has caused unease among honest members of the business community, who are doing their utmost to uplift the economy of Pakistan through hard work. The attack on businessmen and incidents of kidnapping and armed theft were a stark reminder of the serious challenges facing our country at this stage.
He urged the law enforcement agencies to take strict action to curb escalating incidents of violence and lawlessness in order to restore the confidence of the country’s business community.
