ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has underscored the need for increased people to people contacts between Pakistan and Azerbaijan for boost mutual ties and bring the two sides more closer to each other in different spares of life. Chairman Senate expressed these views in a meeting Ali Alizada, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan who called on him at the Parliament House here on Thursday.
Chairman Senate, while welcoming the Azerbaijan envoy said that Pakistan places it relationship with Azerbaijan at a high pedestal and there is need further strengthen cooperation in different sectors specially at parliamentary and other levels.
He was appreciative of the fact that both the countries, being members of the OIC contact group, have supported each other on all crucial issues which is a manifestation of the fact that both sides accord high importance to each other. Raza Rabbani pointed out that Senate has constituted a Pakistan– Azerbaijan friendship group to play a proactive role in boosting cooperation between the two countries. He conveyed his well wishes to the speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan thanked the Chairman Senate for warm welcome and remarks. He said that cooperation between the two countries would continue in future. He said that trade volume between Pakistan and Azerbaijan needs to be enhanced and economic ties need to be further strengthened for mutual benefit. He endorsed the views of Chairman Senate to enhance bilateral cooperation at parliamentary level and pave the way for people to people contacts.
