Karachi (PR): The Integrated Education Learning Program (IELP) is the Foundation’s largest scheme under its Public Private Partnership initiative.IELP establishes public private partnerships with NGOs and individuals at the grassroots for improving access and quality of education for children across Sindh at the primary,elementary and secondary levels.Through the program, SEF is extending financial as well as technical support to over 1200 newly established as well as existing private schools across the 23 districts.The school owners receive per-child subsidy for children from ages 5 to 18 years enrolled in the respective schools.
The Sindh Education Foundation conducted an inspection survey of 1,232 IELP schools in 23 districts of Sindh in November 2013. Districts were divided into seven regions including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Benazirabad and Karachi.
The survey began with an orientation which was held at Hyderabad to give participants a demonstration on the data tool and its mechanism. The main objective of survey was to collect data on students and teachers enrollment and infrastructure in order to facilitate per child subsidy allotment and salary reimbursement.
The SEF regional staff and the Integrated Education Learning Program core teamwere present during the course of the inspection. After evaluation it was concluded that out of 1,232 schools, 978 were functional whereas 254 had sustained damage due to the 2011 floods and were in need of repairs.
