Karachi (PR): The Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Custom House Karachi has launched a fresh drive to curb the menace of smuggling of foreign origin  merchandise goods and Iranian POL products arriving from Balochistan through buses from RCD Highway. As a result of the fresh drive against smuggled goods  launched under the directives of the Collector of Customs Preventive  Mr. S.M. Tariq Huda, the Anti-smuggling Organization with the assistance of Pakistan Rangers has succeeded in interdicting /seizing  huge quantities of smuggled /non-duty paid  Merchandise   goods and POL products worth millions of rupees  on 1.11.2013 after facing agitation from miscreants. Thousands of such miscreants gathered in the shape of a mob and tried to take away the impounded smuggled goods but the officials of Pakistan Rangers very bravely and skillfully managed the situation and succeeded to overcome the nuisance. The seized smuggled/non duty paid goods  includes LED TVs 89 sets valuing Rs.41,52,407/- Tyres new 41 nos valuing Rs.6,14,474/- , CNG Cylinders 70 nos valuing Rs.6,74,160/-, tyres old & used 450 nos valuing Rs.7,89,912/- Sofa Cloth 40 rolls valuing Rs.6,52,960/-, Hino Cabin 2 valuing Rs.2,20,000/-, Hilux Cabin 2 nos valuing Rs.1,20,000/- , Engines old and used 30 nos valuing Rs.3,77,400/- , Shocks 145 nos valuing Rs. 1,35,256/-, auto parts 8 bags valuing Rs.1,49,248, assorted parts valuing Rs.10,000/-, seats 5 nos valuing Rs.2500/-, plastic scrap 9 bags valuing Rs.5000/-, assorted plastic accessories valuing Rs.7000/-, old and used head lights 20 pieces valuing Rs.2000/- and Iranian diesel oil valuing Rs.6,27,000/- all worth Rs.85,39,317/-.

The Collectorate has initiated proceedings under the provisions of Customs Laws , accordingly.
