PRIVATE SCHOOLS NOT COOPERATING POLIO ERADICATION TEAMS WOULD BE DEALT UNDER 188-
ALL SET TO ACHIEVE TARGET IN LYARI TOWN DESPITE LAW & ORDER SITUATION – DEPUTY COMMISSIONER SOUTH
Karachi, April 14: Deputy Commissioner Karachi South Mustafa Jamal Kazi has said that those private schools creating hindrance in polio eradication campaign would be dealt under section 188.He asked Defence Housing Authority to extend full cooperation in making polio campaign a success as residents of posh area resisting polio teams arguing security reasons. Presiding over a review meeting of District Polio Eradication Committee South in connection with upcoming 3-day Polio Eradication campaign starting from April 13, Deputy Commissioner South said that despite law and order situation, all set to administer polio drops to one lakh and 15 thousand children in Lyari Town and added that 350 polio teams have been formed to achieve target. He said that 531 teams have been constituted to administrator 1 lakh 31 thousand children of Saddar Town. He said that UC-9 of Saddar Town was needed to be focused as particular community residing there in majority refused to administer their children polio drops due to certain beliefs.
He said that the performance of polio teams was commendable during previous campaigns and appreciated at highest forms as well as federal level. He stressed upon the stakeholders to continue dedication and determination to maintain status and make improvement in upcoming polio round. He said that missing children was important issue which needed to full attention. “To over come that issue coordinated efforts is required”, he maintained. He directed stockholders to involve area MPA’s, MNA’s, Union Council Secretaries, Former Nazims and Councilors and Muhallah Committees to attend every child of District South and ensure that campaign started early in the morning at 8.30 a.m. He said that complaint cell has been established under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner South S.M. Afzal Zaidi , Deputy Director private Schools Shireen Memon, Provincial Coordinator Rotary International Masood Bhalle, Benish Hussain, Paras Hafeez and Molan Sohail Saleem Jadoon of Unicef and representatives of DHA, Cantonment Board ,NGO’s , Social Welfare, Health and Education departments attended the meeting.
NO BAN ON CARRYING OF LICENSED WEAPONS WITHOUT UN-NECESSARY DISPLAYING – HOME DEPARTMENT CLARIFIES
Karachi, April 14: The Home Department, Government of Sindh has clarified that presently there is no ban on carrying of licensed weapons without un-necessary displaying, provided that displaying/brandishing of weapon is strictly prohibited; the licensee shall not carry any arms to fair, religious procession or other public assemblage or within the campus or precincts of any educational institution; and the license must be renewed/updated and weapon allowed therein registered in the office of concerned Deputy Commissioner and Police Station.
HOME DEPARTMENT DIRECTS DCs TO COLLECT ARMS LICENSEE RECORD FROM COMMISSIONER OFFICE
Karachi, April 14: The Home Department, Government of Sindh has directed to the deputy Commissioners of South, West, East, Central and Malir of Karachi Division to collect the record of Arms Licensees concerning to their respective districts from the office of Commissioner/Defunct DCO, Karachi.
The Home Department, however further added that the computerized arms licenses of Karachi will continue to be issued from Home Department, Government of Sindh as usual.
