SINDH GOVERNMENT WANTS TO ERADICATE CHEATING CULTURE – SHARMILA FARUQUI
Karachi, April 19: On the directives of Sindh Minister for Education Sharmila Faruqui Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Media paid surprise visits to different examination centers alongwith team of Education Department.
Advisor to Chief Minister visited Government Boys Secondary School Channessar Goth and caught 7 students who were found involved in cheating. Their answer sheets were taken and sent to the Chairman Secondary Board and Controller of Examinations for legal action. She also visited Norwejain Government Boys Secondary School Azam Basti Mehmoodabad and Muslim Boys Secondary School and caught one student found cheating.
Sharmila Faruqui while talking to media said that Senior Minister Education had taken serious notice of the news of cheating in Metric Examination, he directed to constitute a team comprising the representatives of education department and Secondary Board to conduct raids in order to control the cheating.
She said that Sindh Government wanted to eradicate cheating culture and to create trends of competition among the students, She concluded.
CONTAMINATION HAS NOT REACHED MAIN BODY OF KEENJHAR LAKE – SPOKESMAN FOR ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT
Karachi, April 19: A spokesman for Environment & Alternative Energy Department has said that the report appearing in the media about the contamination of water in Keenjhar Lake were extremely alarming and accordingly the Environment Department immediately activated the Environmental Protection Agency, Sindh to attend the issue on top priority basis.
He said that the Minister for Environment immediately dispatched a high level technical team from the Regional Office Hyderabad of Environmental Protection Agency, Sindh alongwith a noted water quality expert, Dr. Muhammad Ahsan Siddiqui to visit and examine the issue. Samples have been obtained and are being tested in different well-reputed labs, so that the nature of contamination can be identified. “On the spot test have revealed a high TDS and PH level, though they do not fall in the hazardous level,” he added.
The spokesman further mentioned that according to the report of the Regional Office the contamination seems to have been originated either from industrial activity pertaining to Wind Power Generation or from the Nooriabad Industrial Estate and has travelled through a seasonal rain water natural drain called Horolo Doro and falling into Keenjhar Lake and added that though, the contamination has not reached main body of Keenjhar Lake, its impact on the flora and fauna are visible.
He said that on the basis of the report and on the advice of the water quality expert, the Commissioner Hyderabad has been asked to immediately stop the flow of contaminated water through this rain water drain by closing or blocking the same. He said that the Managing Director, Water Board has also been advised to maintain strict vigil, and resort to regular testing of quality of water being taken from Keenjhar Lake for supply to Karachi while, the Irrigation Authorities have also been advised to monitor the quality of water in Keenjhar Lake and other canals.
The spokesman further said that Regional Office Hyderabad had been directed to identify the Industrial units, which have generated contamination and take immediate action under the Environmental Protection Act to stop all such industrial activities, which is causing contamination.
PRO’S SHOULD WORK HARD QAZI SHAHID PERVAIZ
Karachi, April 19: Secretary Information Sindh Qazi Shahid Pervaiz has said that Public Relations Officers one a bridge between Sindh Government and the people. Their prime duty is to convey the messages achievements and performance of the government to the masses. This he said while addressing a high level meeting of Public Relation Officers here on Thursday in his office. He said, Honest and hardworking officers are always liked and given due respect while unwilling workers are disliked. He directed the Public Relations Officer to work hard and to accommodate themselves with modern techniques of Public Relations. He said that the work was of PROs was really hard and needed full attention and dedication.
On this occasion Director General Public Relations Dr. Zulfikar Shalwani said that Public Relations Officer should follow punctuality and work hard & achieve the desired goals Public Relations Officer informed them problems.
