WOMEN RIGHTS BE PROTECTED – SHARMILA FARUQUI
Karachi, April 21: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Media Sharmila Faruqui has said that approval of bill domestic violence against women will not only reduce the incidents of violence against women, but it will also bring positive effects to the society. This she said while talking to various women delegations here in her office today.
She requested the members of Sindh Assembly to approve domestic violence bill against women on 23rdApril Assembly Session, because after 18th Amendment in constitution it had become the responsibility of the provinces to make legislations for the rights of women and to give them their due status in the society.
Sharmila Faruqui assured the women that the present democratic government, following the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and under the guidance of President Asif Ali Zardari, was striving hard to protect the rights of the women and to give them their due status.
She added, ‘Measures taken for the protection of the rights of women yet, have produced good results’. She said that the domestic violence bill against women would reduce ugly incidents and the law enforces would be able to catch those who were involved in such unpleasant incidents.
Advisor to Chief Minister said, ‘It is also the responsibility of the provincial governments to nab those who throw acid on women, because violence against women and incidents of throwing acid is heinous crime. We should build a society where women can perform their duties freely’. On this occasion women informed Sharmila Faruqi about their problems and she assured them that their problems would be solved.
