Karachi, August 15: Provincial Minister for Revenue Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that no exodus of the members of Hindu Community from Sindh is taking place. The news of exodus is baseless and just propaganda against the country. This he said while talking to different delegations in his office today.

He said, ‘Hindus are going to that country to visit religious sites and not for any other reason. Insecurity is not a matter.’ Jam Mehtab added that President Asif ali Zardari had taken serious notice of fleeing Hindus from Sindh and constituted a committee to look into the issue and grievances of Hindu community, besides this a cell had been established in the FIA where members of the minorities could lodge complaints about injustice if they had any.

He said that rights of the Hindu Community would be protected and no one would be allowed to violate the Constitution which guaranteed full rights to the minorities to practise their religious rites. He said, ‘It is a great achievement of present democratic government that it has increased 100 percent minorities fund and seats in Senate as well.’


Karachi, August 15: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has taken serious notice of deaths of 5 men in Hyderabad who died due to consuming poisonous liquor and directed the Director Excise Hyderabad to take stern action against those who are involved in illegal sale/ purchase of liquor. Besides this he has issued orders to suspend two Excise Inspectors in Hyderabad. On special directives of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Excise team  raided in Hosri and arrested two accused Khenju and Majeed and recovered 670 illegal liquor from their possession. Cases have been registered against them. Mukesh Kumar Chawla directed the officials of Excise and Taxation Department to take strict action against those who were involved in illegal sale/ purchase of liquor.


Karachi, August 15: Sindh Minister for Environment, Shaikh Muhammad Afzal has said that Environmental Pollution is a serious threat to Sindh. He said that industrialists and other stake holders to join hands to overcome this problem. Sindh Minister for Environment further said that there is a dire need of cooperation of international organizations and INGOs to eliminate environmental pollution. Shaikh Muhammad Afzal expressed these views in a meeting with Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Karachi Dr. Tilo Klinner here  at his office Karachi. When the Consul General of Germany wished to know about sewage water in the meeting Sindh Minister for Environment told the Consul General Dr. Tillo Klinner that over 475 million gallons per day (MGD) of sewage was being generated in the Karachi city while the combined capacity of the city sewage treatment plants was round 151 MGDs. He told that these plants were old and not running on full capacity and for that reason bulk of untreated sewage was going to the sea, destroying the fragile marine ecosystem in the process. Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany also told the Sindh Minister for Environment that Germany would help in eliminating the environmental pollution in Sindh. During the meeting Secretary Environment Mir Hussain Ali also briefed the Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Tillo Klinner that keeping in view a shortage of officials, the department was being expended and more offices were established so that SEPA could reach all over the province to monitor industries. During the meeting Shaikh Muhammad Afzal gave the cultural gift of Sindh “Toi and Ajrak” to the German guest.

Pir Mazhar to write book on Judicial History of country

Karachi, August 15: The statement issued here said that the Senior Minister for Education & Literacy Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq would write a book on Judiciary’s biased role against democratic institutions throughout the history of the country.

“My book, From Justice Muneer to Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, would disclose the concealed facts of the judicial history of this country”, Pir Mazhar stated here on Wednesday.

He said that his book would exposed the facts of the important cases of the history like Molvi Tameez-ud-din Case, Aasma Jeelani Case, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Case, Begum Nusrat Bhutto Case, Judges Case, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Case, Asif Ali Zardari Case, Zafar Ali Shah Case, Yousuf Raza Gilani Case, Contempt of Court Act Case and such other cases, where court decisions paved the way for attacks on democracy in the name of justice.

Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq said that the facts of these cases must be brought to public so that common man should be aware of the anti-democratic forces.

He said that dictators weakened the foundations of the country and hindered its progress, however it is evident that the elected government has been the best form of government throughout the world history.
