PPP RESPECTS JUDICIARY – JAM MEHTAB

Karachi, August 27: Provincial Minister for Revenue Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that Pakistan Peoples Party has always respected the judiciary. Having been presented himself before Supreme Court, Prime Minister Pakistan Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has proved that PPP does not want clash among institutions and it has always respected judiciary. This he said while talking to different delegations here in his office today.

He said, ‘Pakistan Peoples Party has sacrificed a lot for the restoration and survival of democracy in the country and it is the party of martyrs. No other political party can not compete PPP in respect of sacrifices.’ Provincial Minister added that Sindh was the strong hold of PPP and it would remain. People of all four provinces were with PPP. Muslim League (N) should learn from PPP how to respect judiciary.’

He said, ‘Whenever the country needs, we’ll sacrifice for the democracy. Pakistan history is the witness that the leaders and workers of PPP had always been in limelight in the struggle for democracy.

Jam Mehtab said that having being appeared before honourable court , Prime Minister had shut the criticism of opposition. Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan should stop criticizing the government for nothing. President Asif Ali Zardari’s political policies had given stability to the country.

MINISTER EXCISE TAKES NOTICE OF DEATHS

Karachi, August 27: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has taken serious notice of deaths in Tando Allah Yar and Badin caused by due to consuming poisonous liquor and has directed Director Excise Hyderabad to look into matter immediately and submit its report to Director General Excise within three days. He also directed to Director General Excise that it was a sensitive issue of human lives and these lives should be saved at any cost. Those who were involved in sale and purchase of illicit and poisonous liquor should be brought to the task.

However Director Excise Hyderabad told that no death was occurred due to consuming poisonous liquor such news were baseless and civil surgeon and police had informed in written , while investigations were in progress in regarding deaths in Badin and accused would be arrested soon and bring them to task.

CHIEF SECRETARY CALLS REPORT ON ELECTRICITY DUES & WIND/COAL POWER PROJECTS

Karachi, August 27: Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas has advised the administrative Secretaries of Auqaf, Education, Health and Home Department to expeditiously clear the dues of HESCO/SEPCD/KESC, and get the billing Accounts reconciled with the help of Sindh Power Department, within 02 days. He issued these instructions, while providing over important meeting in his office this morning. Raja Muhammad Abbas also asked the Secretary Power to submit the dues settlement report showing the dues paid to the concerned institutions by the departments of Sindh Government.

Meanwhile the Chief Secretary called progress regarding Coal & Wind base energy generation, within 03 days. He advised the Secretaries of Coal Energy & Power and D.G. PPPP (Public Private Partnership Project), to sit together and prepare comprehensive reports to this effect.

The meeting was attended by the Secretaries, Implementation Rizwan Ahmed, Coal Energy – Eajaz Ali Khan, Power Ms. Rabia J. Agha, D.G. PPP – Suhail A. Rajput, Special Secretary Finance – Shakeel Mangnjo, Mangi, and other senior officers. Secretary Health Aftab Khatri briefed the meeting about electricity consumptions in hospital.
Raja Muhammad Abbas also stressed the need to take appropriate action against the authorized connections.

 US$ 100 MILLION WOULD INVEST TO ESTABLISH STORAGE FACILITIES OF 150000 TONS OF WHEAT GOVERNMENT OF SINDH SIGNED MOU WITH FAUJI AKBER PORTIA MARINE TERMINALS LTD FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF STRATEGIC STORAGE

Karachi, August 27: Food Department, Government of Sindh and Fauji Akber Portia Marine Terminals Ltd have joined hands together for cooperation regarding establishment of Strategic Storage Facilities of 150,000 tons of wheat/grains exclusively for Government of Sindh or its nominee at South Western Industrial Zone of Port Qasim on Monday.
According to MoU, Project Company will make an investment of upto US$ 100 Million including a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) component from potential Chinese investors for establishment of strategic storage facilities.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed by Mr. Aftab Ahmed Memon, (Secretary to Government of Sindh, Food Department) and Mr. Ahmed K. Rana (Chief Executive Officer, Fauji Akbar Portia Marine Terminals Ltd at SBI office. Minister Finance (GoS), Chairman Sindh Board of Investment, Secretary Finance (GoS) were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah said that Government of Sindh (GoS) has already initiated establishment of Modern Grain Storage Facility under PPP mode. The current environmental challenges especially in the wake of recent devastating floods in Pakistan have made the construction of modern grain storage facility indispensable to cater to the fluctuating demands of grain. At present Province of Sindh alone is facing storage shortage of minimum 4.0 Million metric tons. The said dedicated facility will immediately enhance capacity for GoS to store grain through modern methods.

Mr. Ahmed K. Rana (Chief Executive Officer, Fauji Akbar Portia Marine Terminals Ltd) said that Fauji Akbar Portia Marine Terminals (FAP) has already established an Exclusive Dry Cargo Terminal at Port Qasim, Pakistan with a cost of USD 135 million which has the maximum design capacity of 2.5 Million tons and storage capacity of 125,000 tons (grains). The facility is fully operational since December 2010.
