SINDH GOVERNMENT RAMADAN PACKAGE-2012

Karachi, July 19: Chief Minister, Sindh has constituted a ”Secretaries Committee” for Ramadan Package-2012 comprising upon Secretary Finance. Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Food and Secretary Supply & Prices.
According to policy line for Ramadan Package issued by Food Department Sindh, the Government of Sindh has decided to provide 200,000 M.Tonnes wheat during the Holy Month of Ramaddan to facilitate the consumers to have Atta in hand on more economical rate which is reduced to Rs.23/- per kg and supplies of Atta will be arranged throughout the Province under “Sindh Government Ramadan Package-2012”.

The region-wise distribution of the allocated quantity of 200,000 M. Tonnes wheat is as under:

Karachi Region will be provided 90,000 M.Tonnes, Hyderabad Region – 35,000 M. Tonnes, Sukkur Region – 45,000 M. Tonnes, Mirpurkhas Region – 15,000 M. Tonnes and Larkana Region has been allocated 15,000 M. Tonnes.
Policy Guide line stated that the releases will commence from 18th July, 2012 by providing considerable quantities of wheat to the flour mills in 2-Phases @ Rs.1875/100 Kg bag (plus Rs.115/- cost of bardana).

Besides, the Deputy Director/District Food Controllers concerned have been directed to ensure that package must carry the marking of supply of Atta under “Sindh Government Ramadan Packagge-2012” at the fixed rate of Rs.23/- per Kg (Rs.230/- per 10 Kg Thailla) alongwith date of production, price and its origin and manage the distribution of the releases specifically for Ramadan Package made to the millers strictly observing the provisions of the policy and maintaining transparency. Under the policy, it will be ensured that the actual number of packing of 10 Kgs are prepared and delivered at specified outlets by the millers against the quantity allowed to individual unit for ensuring availability of Atta in the Packing of 10 Kg Thailla each for smooth distribution, while wheat be released to the flour mills by the Deputy Directors in 2-Phases keeping in view the considered Roller Bodies alongwith positive performance of the Flour Mills as per their past record. If any, flour mills would not perform well as per Rules/Laws/Policy and involve in any pilferage/malpractice in the issue of 1st phase, they not be allowed 2nd phase of issues and will compensate the loss/differential cost. No wheat under Ramadan Package shall be issued to the defaulting Flour Mills who are found indulge in misappropriation /embezzlement off wheat stocks stored at mill PRCs and no wheat shall be issued from PRC and priority should be given to the stocks of old crops, open places/threatening stocks during the releases. The District Administration has been asked to organize Bachat Bazaar specific outlets and special Ramadan Bazars at District and Taluka Headquarters where Revenue Officer and food Department’s representatives should ensure availability of Atta10/Kg to the general public. Further, the Committee at District and Taluka level should be constituted comprising District Administration, Food and Bureau of Supply and Prices (wherever available) and to ensure that every flour mill should establish Atta Stalls at Ramadan/Bachat Bazaars at the District and Taluka level and outside the mills premises as well. Complete record to be maintained in Releases and Atta supply of each mill by Mill Management and Food Inspector posted at the mill. District Food Controller should ensure 100 % grinding of wheat bags provided for Ramadan Package and Atta is supplied in the fair Price Shops, Bachat Bazaars and designated outlets established by the Flour Mills, adding that the samples of Atta will be drawn from time to time to check the quality/quantity of Atta, and if, it is found sub-standard, the defaulting Millers will be proceeded against under the provisions as envisaged in the Rules /Laws/Policy, while transportation cost in supply of Atta to any place will be borne by the Mill Management. According policy, one bag of 10 Kg shall be provided to one person at a time.

Karachi, July 19: It surely was a big and challenging task to bring exhibitors and business entities from across the region at one platform, but the execution was marvelous and it is hoped that the same spirit may be maintained by Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) in future.

This was stated by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah while addressing a group of delegates from Afghanistan, India and Indonesia which called on him at the CM House. The delegation was led by Mr. Mohammad Zubair Motiwala, President, Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PAJCCI) and Chairman Sindh Board of Investment (SBI). The delegation was accompanied by the Directors of PAJCCI, President and Office Bearers of KCCI and Secretariat members of PAJCCI from both Karachi and Kabul.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that this was a good platform and would help further promote the bilateral trade between Pakistan and regionally linked countries. He further reinforced that effort of PAJCCI in such a short span of time especially in enhancing the trade links between the two countries is commendable. The first delegation of this Chamber has opened several avenues for the business community across the border and it is expected that both the countries would be able to enhance their trade volume through this platform.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. M. Zubair Motiwala briefed that vehement response of business community across the border towards membership launch of Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) is an indication that bi-lateral relations may be strengthened significantly through this platform.

The Membership kiosk of PAJCCI at Expo Centre was also visited by Chief Minister during the inaugural ceremony held on July 13, 2012. The kiosk also received extremely remarkable response from the visitors and participants present at the event.

Mr. Motiwala also referred to the opportunities available at the platform of Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) which will be shared with the Afghan delegates later in the day during a presentation session organized by SBI for the delegates. This will pave ways for joint ventures and common investment activities between the two neighbouring countries.

Mr. Abdul Ehsan Mohmand, Executive Director, PAJCCI-Afghan Chapter reiterated that between the two nations where religion, culture and language are similar, the business partnerships are highly likely. He believed that in the sector of power and energy the joint investments will prove significantly instrumental. He expressed that 80% of Afghan markets are supported by exports from Pakistan and further penetration will reinforce the bi-lateral ties. He further elaborated that the next delegate of PAJCCI that will arrive from Pakistan to Afghanistan will be welcomed in the same manner and they will be provided an excellent platform to represent their businesses in Afghanistan.
He also assured that they will also arrange the call-on to Honourable President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mr. Hamid Karzai when the delegation will visit them in upcoming October 2012.

The Afghan delegation expressed pleasure on the support extended by PAJCCI-Pakistan and most importantly was impressed with the hospitality of Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Meanwhile, the Sindh Chief Minister presented the traditional gifts of Ajrak and Sindhi cap to the members of the delegation.

NAWAZ SHARIF SHOULD LEARN POLITICS FROM PPP- JAM MAHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR

Karachi, July 19: Provincial Minister for Revenue Jam Mahtab Hussain Dahar has said that Nawaz Sharif has conservative approach and his politics revolves around provincialism while Pakistan Peoples Party is a federal party that has deep roots in all provinces including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. This he said while talking to various delegations here in his office on Thursday. He said that whenever Nawaz Sharif visited Sindh he did nothing but to increase the problems of the people and did only verbosity. He advised Sharif Brothers to learn politics from a common worker of Pakistan Peoples Party who never left party in lurch.

Jam Mahtab added, ‘People of Pakistan will never support those so called politicians who enter into secret pacts and leave the country. The history of Pakistan Peoples Party is a history of martyrs and we believe in serving the masses in all circumstances.’ He said that the workers and leaders of PPP were the backbone of the party and we had been elected by the people of Pakistan. Our first priority was to provide basic facilities to the people. Provincial Minister said that the four and half years of our government was a clear proof that we had provided relief to the people in our tenure. Thousands young men were given jobs on merit. More than one lac young men had been provided technical training skills in order to enable them to earn respectable livelihood in the society. On this occasion the members of the delegations informed the provincial minister about their problems and minister assured them that the problems will be solved soon.

INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND STAKEHOLDERS CO-OPERATE IN ERADICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION- SHAIKH MUHAMMAD AFZAL

Karachi, July 19: Sindh Minister for Environment Shaikh Muhammad Afzal said that Environmental Pollution is a serious threat to the Sindh, we all including industrialists and other stakeholders have to take active part in eradication of the pollution and there is also a severe need of the cooperation of International organizations and stakeholders as environemtal pollution could be eradicated. Shaikh Muhammad Afzal expressed these views in the meeting with Mikko Lainejoki, Director and Representative of UNOPS Pakistan here at his office Karachi. While having a meeting with Sindh Minister for Environment, Mikko Lainejoki told Shaikh Muhammad Afzal that UNOPS has been supporting projects in Pakistan for more than fifteen years and worked for rehabilitation and improvement of environment and sanitation in the province. Shaikh Muhammad Afzal praised the worth and role of UNOPS Pakistan and said that there was still the pollution problem in the Sindh province and further cooperation and help from international NGOs and organizations is needed.

SINDH HIGH COURT TAKE ACTION AGAINST ACCOUNTS OFFICER

Karachi, July 19: Sindh High Court Karachi has ordered that the services of Mr. Zahid Ali Lakho, Accounts Officer (B-16) Sindh Workers Welfare Board (Education Section) Karachi has hereby terminated, w.e.f. 01-.07-2006.

            Meanwhile Mr. Zahid Ali Lakho, Ex-Accounts Officer B-16 Sindh Workers Welfare Board (Education Section) Karachi is directed to deposit the amounts which he have been drawn during illegal period w.e.f. 01.07.2006 to date without fail within seven days.

RIVER INDUS IS FLOWING NORMAL – IRRIGATION DEPARTMENT

Karachi, July 19:  Director Regulation Irrigation Department Government of Sindh has informed that River Indus is flowing normal at Gudu, Sukkur and Kotri Barrages and will remain in normal flood at these stations during next 24 hours. 

He further informed that River discharges at Gudu, Sukkur and Kotri Barrages as recorded at 06:00 a.m. today are as under:
