“RAIN EMERGENCY CELL” ESTABLISHED AT C.M HOUSE TO FACE ANY EMERGENCY LIKE SITUATION DURING MONSOON RAINS.

KARACHI, 27 June 2012: On the directives of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, a “Rain Emergency Cell” has been established at Chief Minister’s Secretariat/House Karachi, which will function round the clock to monitor the issues related to the rains throughout the province. According to a notification issued here today, the cell will function under the supervision of Additional Secretary Coordination and will be in contact with the cells established for this purpose by provincial Relief Commissioner, Commissioners as well as Deputy Commissioners of concerned Districts. A comprehensive daily report will be submitted to Honourable Chief Minister Sindh to keep him updated about the rain related issues and efforts made by the concerned authorities. Private Secretary Mr. Nisar Ahmed, Section Officers Mr. Ali Gul Sanjrani and Mr. Muhammad Khan and one DSP have been assigned to perform their duties in the in the Rain Emergency Cell.

CNG VEHICLES ARE HELPFUL IN ERADICATING ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION – SHEIKH MUHAMMAD AFZAL

Karachi, June 27: Sindh Minister for Environment Shaikh Muhammad Afzal said that the entire Muslim Ummah including Pakistan was left behind in regard with development of safe and healthy environment despite the fact that cleanliness is considered as a half of a Muslim’s faith.

            Sindh Minister for Environment Shaikh Muhammad Afzal speaking to the delegation of All Pakistan CNG Association (Sindh Zone) here at his office praised their worth and said that the CNG vehicles are helpful in eradicating environment pollution. He further said that people should use vehicles which are running on CNG.

            Sindh Minister expressed his views that behind industrial developments, disarranged constructions, encroachments, negative attitude of relevant authorities and lack of appropriate policies have pressed the situation from bad to worst. He ensured the delegation of All Pakistan CNG Association for the fulfillment of required CNG to the Sindh province as people could be facilitated. Minister said that he would negotiate with the Federal Government for the fulfillment of required CNG to Sindh province.

PRESIDENTS’ DIRECTIVES CHIEF SECRETARY PRESIDES OVER REVIEW MEETING CHINESE LANGUAGE IN 200 SCHOOLS

Karachi, June 27: Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas has sought called comprehensive report regarding the progress on President’s directives from the Secretaries of Public Health, Industries and Education Departments within a week.

            He was presiding over a meeting to review the progress, to this effect, this morning. The meeting reviewed 91 directives comprising 14 of Lyari Development Package, 09 of Planning & Development, 08 of Works & Services, 09 of Industries, 04 of Electric Power and 47 of various other departments.

            The Secretary Education informed the meeting that under the Presidents’ directives efforts for teaching of Chinese language at primary and lower secondary level are being made and it is expected that the scheme would be materialized with the inception of forth coming academic session, through 200 selected schools in all districts, while the work for opening Chinese language institutions in Karachi and other cities, is also in progress.

            KW&SB Managing Director apprised that treatment plants at Lyari & Malir Rivers are being strengthened to enhance their capacity under the S-III Project, as well as, he also briefed about combined effluent treatment plants in Karachi, which are being controlled and monitored through the Industries Department.

            Secretary Industries briefed the status of special industrial zones, to be developed in Lyari, Gadap, Bin Qasim and Kemari areas. Raja Abbas asked the Member Land Utilization ((BOR) to furnish report about land within a week.

PML-N HAS BECOME PETITION- LEAGUE SHARJEEL MEMON

Karachi, June 27: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has lashed out at the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) for regularly moving petitions in the courts against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

          Speaking to media today, he said that the PML-N has become a petition-League. He said, “We are not respondents to 17 persons,” and added: “instead we are respondents to 20 crore people of Pakistan.”

          Memon asked as to how those, who resorted to unconstitutional measures could speak of protecting the constitution. He said the N-League was fond of filling petitions on every issue.

          He said that efforts were made to carry out trial of the PPP, adding that the constitution was created by the parliamentarians and they also knew how to interpret it.

SINDH POSSESSES HUGE-POTENTIAL OF ELECTRICITY GENERATION THROUGH WIND ENERGY: MUHAMMAD ZUBAIR MOTIWALA

Karachi, June 27: Chairman Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), Muhammad Zubair Motiwala said that Sindh possesses considerable potential of (50,000 MW) of electricity generation through wind energy in southern Sindh. The Gharo—Jhimpir wind corridor is blessed with monthly average wind speeds exceeding 7-8 meters per second.

            Elaborating the incentives provided for investors in the Renewable Energy Sector, he explained that land is available for renewable energy generation and to eligible investors on extremely attractive annual rentals US 16 cents per sq yard/annum for direct impact area (foot prints).  He further instilled that upfront tariff of 14.67 cents/ KWH is also available for all those investors who are ready to complete projects in 18 month time.

Muhammad Zubair Motiwala further said that Government of Pakistan had made long term (20 year) agreements with the Power Purchaser through Implementation Agreement & Sovereign Guarantee with WAPDA. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala apprised the participants about the fiscal incentives through a zero tax/duty regime, where only contribution to national exchequer would be through a 7.5% withholding tax on dividends declared across the life of the project. Guaranteed Attractive Return of 17%-18% on Equity (“ROE”) is offered under the NEPRA tariff guidelines.  Chairman SBI also informed the participants that due to the attractive incentive package announced by Government of Pakistan an upsurge in the interest of investors have been witnessed at present 26 projects with installed capacity of 1800 MW are in progress.

Secretary Investment Ms. Naheed S. Durrani, Consultant on Alternate Energy, SBI and others officers of SBI were also present in the meeting.

VIDEO FOOTAGE SYSTEM TO BE INSTALLED IN INFORMATION DEPARTMENT SOONER – SHARJEEL MEMON

Karachi, June 27: Provincial Minister for Information Mr. Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that transmission of information in proper and appropriate time has become inevitable in new era especially electronic media has doubled importance of news, thats why process of installation of video footage system will be initiated sooner in Information Department, Government of Sindh, so that electronic media could be disseminate information get awareness about government activities and development projects in proper time.

            While chairing a departmental meeting, he directed that officers should use modern technology to make good liaison with electronic media, so that dissemination of government version could be highlighted comprehensively. In this connection, usage of modern technology and manpower of electronic media system in Information Department would be associated sooner and services of modern electronic system engineers for technical consultancy would also be hired in this regard, he added.

             Minister stressed upon to arrange refresher courses for officers of Information Department and said newly appointed officers should be well trained and they must get departmental training and courses; so that officers could perform their duties with synchronization of modern technology to improve their skills. Competent and educated officers are asset of department, he further said.

RAIN EMERGENCY CELL ESTABLISHED IN CHIEF MINISTER HOUSE

Karachi, June 27: Chief Minister, Sindh has established an “Rain Emergency Cell” in view of forthcoming monsoon season, under the supervision of Additional Secretary (Coord). Chief Minister’s Secretariat/at Chief Minister Sectt./House. The cell will be functional on around the clock basis, to monitor the issues related to rain, throughout the province. The cell will be in contact with the cells established for the purpose by Provincial Relief, Commissioners as well as deputy Commissions of various districts. The cell have been instructed to submitted a comprehensive daily report to Chief Minister Sindh to keep him up date about the progress.

            According to the notification following officers are already posted at public complaint cell (919) have been assigned to perform their duties.

PIR PAGARA WILL DECIDE POLITICAL COALITION WITH ANY OTHER PARTY IN ELECTION–IMTIAZ SHEIKH

Karachi, June 27: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Special Education and General Secretary of PML-F presided over the meeting of divisional committee here at his residence Karachi.

            In the meeting, present political condition in country, party policies and upcoming elections were discussed in the meeting. The political culture to PML-F and the great vision of Pir Sain Pagara was appreciated during the divisional committee meeting. After the meeting talking to the media Imtiaz Shaikh said that PML-F will participate in the election jointly with other political parties. He further said that in the election our party could jointly stand in up coming election with coalition political parties. But further Pir Saen Pagara would decide for coalition with political parties on time.

            Imtiaz Shaikh said that they were trying to approach the political parties for making unanimous policies regarding upcoming elections. He further said that PML-F would go to the people of Sindh very soon with their friendly policies. In the divisional meeting many important decisions were taken. Nazir Kaemkhani, MNA Fakir Jadam Mangrio, Sayed Akbar Shah Rashdi, MPA Nusrat Sehar Abbasi and others attended the meeting.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPAREDNESS, MEASURES FOR MONSOON RAINS

Karachi, June 27: Government of Sindh, Rehabilitation Department, Provincial Disaster Management Authority has informed that all preparedness measures including activation of Rain Emergency Centre/ District Emergency Operation Centre round the clock of respective districts manned with well – versed staff and concerned officers for an effective response mechanism including early warning and evacuation of vulnerable communities whenever and wherever required. It shall be ensured that sufficient resources such as dewatering pumps are deployed at low lying areas/ prepositional.

            Moreover, Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) has issued predicting pre-monsoon rains information that southwest currents are likely to penetrate southern and eastern parts of the country from Sunday evening. Under the influence of southwest monsoon incursion, intermittent scattered rain-thundershowers are likely in Eastern Baluchistan, Sindh coast, central and upper parts of Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and most parts of Kashmir from Tuesday to Thursday.

            In this connection farming community is advised to adopt rain water harvesting practices to recharge the soil moisture reserves especially in rain-fed areas which are under stress conditions due to deficit rainfall during past four months. Met office further informed that onset of regular monsoon season is likely during the first week of July.
