Karachi, March 15:  Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Media Sharmila Faruqui has said that 18th, 19th and 20th amendments in constitution, consensus on NFC Award, Empowerment of Women, unopposed success in Senate Elections for Chairman and Deputy Chairman are some of the success of the present democratic government. This she said while talking to a delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party Toronto here in Toronto. Delegation was consisted of PPP Toronto President Daniel Ibrahim, Secretary Information Shehzada Benazir and Vice President Saad Raj.

            The office bearers of PPP Toronto expressed their confidence over the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan and Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Prime Minister of Pakistan and said that it was a matter of pleasure that overseas Pakistani had got vote power and they would be able to cast their votes in next general elections. On this occasion Ms. Sharmila Faruqui told the office bearers of PPP Toronto about on-going development projects of present democratic government.

            She added ‘Present democratic government has successfully completed four years and would continue to serve the people in future as well’.


Karachi, March 15: Sindh Police has decided to appoint Women Police Officers as Station House Officers and Section Officers Traffic Posts for providing them an equal opportunity to express their abilities gender discrimination.

            Inspector General of Sindh, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah while addressing women police officers  Darbar at a training module for women police officers having components of counter terrorism, Human Rights issues, car/motorcycle driving etc to bring them o main police stream.

            IG Sindh constituted a committee under DIGP, Administration, Karachi Police to recommend names of women police officers as SHOs and SOs Traffic or besides arrangements for car/motorcycle driving training and solution to their basic problems/issues confronting smooth discharge of duties.

            He said that he had drafted a summary for the Sindh Government to raise the strength of Women Police Officers upto 5% of the total sanctioned police strength. “Women Police Officers have been invited to attend an exclusive Darbar in order to know their practical difficulties and to address them”, he maintained. He added that Women Police Officers would prove more cooperative to the people and women folk would also feel comfortable with them.

            The Women Police Darbar was also attended by Additional IG, Karachi; Additional IGP, Sindh; Additional IGP, Traffic; DIGsP Headquarters /South/East/Traffic and AIGP Logistics and AIGP, Operation.


Karachi, March 15: Sindh Minister for Law and Prison Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Soomro has disclosed that Rupees one billion has been sanctioned by (CDWP) for the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana to provide modern facilities to the University. This he stated while talking to a delegation of Doctors of Larkana at his office here on Thursday. The delegation informed about the problems faced by the Medical University Larkana in connection with the medical facilities including the problems of Doctors and Para Medical Staff.

            Mr. Soomro said that on the special directives of President Asif Ali Zardari and MNA Madam Faryal Talpur, the steps were being taken on war footing basis to modernize the Benazir Medical University Larkana. He added that modern facilities were also being provided in accordance with international standard.

            He said that with the provision of modern medical facilities at Larkana, the patients would be able to get quality treatment as provided in Karachi and other big cities.

            Ayaz Soomro said that Sindh Government was aware of the problems of Doctors & Para Medical Staff and all the facilities and benefits would be provided to the doctors in order to up grade their living status. He said in this connection, the Government was spending billions of rupees.

Karachi, March 15: The Sindh Food Department (the “SFD”) acting on behalf of the Government of Sindh, is hosting a conference for potential investors for the Modern Grain Storage Facilities PPP Project (the “Project”) on March 28, 2012 at a local hotel in Karachi.

            The Prequalification process for the Project was launched on February 23, 2012 whereby prospective investors have been invited to express their interest in the Project for construction and operation of bulk grain storage and handling facilities in Sindh on a Build-Operate-Own (BOO) basis. Deadline for submission of responses to the Prequalification documents is April 10, 2012.

            The SFD has engaged International Finance Corporation (“IFC”), a member of the World Bank Group, to act as Transaction Advisor for the Project, and IFC will be co-hosting the conference with the SFD.

            This investor conference will be a good opportunity for potential investors to gain a better understanding of the Project, and meet with various relevant Government and private sector stakeholders involved in the Project.

Karachi, March 15: Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has announced that the difference in salaries between teachers, working in Urban & Rural areas will be abolished, so that the problems of teachers of rural areas will be solved, and they should perform their duties with dedication. This he said while speaking at seminar as a chief guest, the seminar was organized by federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industries for the rights of consumers. He said that for the improvement the standard of the Education, the program of Associate Degree in Education had been started. He informed that 19 thousands teachers would be appointed soon on merit with the collaboration of World Bank and the teachers of science, English and Mathematics subjects would be appointed in High Schools. He said through quality education we intended to build up a good nation. He said, we have trained, Master trainers in education sector with the collaboration of International Institutions, who are getting training to the teachers of Sindh. He advised to the educated youngsters to come forward towards the Government Schools, the Government will provide them job security with pension and other financial benefits. Pir Mazhar said that with the Political reconciliation policy and consensus of parties more than 14 thousand teachers had been appointed during last 4 years. He directed to the teachers to create awareness among the students about consumer’s rights, while the members of Chamber of Commerce & Industries should Coordinate with the Education Department so that the consumers right should be included as a part of syllabus. He said that legislation is the difficult but its implementation is more difficult. Pir Mazhar added that the ghost teachers have            tornatched the image of education as well as destroying the standard of education that is why he is against the teachers, who destroying the resources. On the occasion senator Habib Khan Rahat Konani, Ahmed Chenai, Huma Bukhari and other addressed to the seminar.


Karachi March 15: Sindh is blessed with enormous potential for Wind Energy resource which if tapped can generate more than 50,000 MW. Wind Corridor (Gharo- Jhampir) is 60 KM wide and 180 KM long with average wind speed of 7-8 meter/sec. This was briefed by Chairman SBI while presiding a meeting in the office of Investment Department, Government of Sindh

Govt of Sindh has taken strong measures to unfold this opportunity and have so far approved 26 Wind Projects which will be commissioned within next one year and will generate of more than 1000 MW of energy. Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chairman Sindh Board of Investment shared that Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has recently approved allotment of 3474-34 acres of land for Nine (09) Fast Track Wind Power projects and the Revenue Department has also granted 30 years land lease to all Fast Track Wind Power Projects through investment under Renewable Energy Policy 2006.

            Chairman, SBI said that efficient solution to energy crisis can only be achieved by encouraging investment in Renewable Energy Projects. All these 09 fast track projects have submitted non refundable guarantees under the new policy envisaging commissioning of commercial operations by March 31, 2013. He further elaborated that these projects plan to install 297.4 of electricity in the wind corridor of District Thatta and Jamshoro. He further said that Government of Sindh is simultaneously pursuing few other fast track cases including that M/S NBT for installation of 500 MW. Under these commitments, a total 797.4 MW can be installed by end of March, 2013.
