INVESTOR CONFERENCE FOR MODERN GRAIN STORAGE PP PROJECT ON MARCH 28, 2012
Karachi, March 21: The Sindh Food Department (SFD), on behalf of the Government of Sindh, is hosting a conference for potential investors for the Modern Grain Storage Facilities PPP Project on March 28, 2012 at the local hotel.
The Prequalification process for the Project has already been started on a Build-Operate-Own (BOO) basis.
The SFD has engaged International Finance Corporation (“IFC“), a member of the World Bank Group, to act as Transaction Advisor for the Project, and IFC will be co-hosting the conference with the SFD.
According to a spokesman of SFD, this investor conference will be a good opportunity forpotential investors to gain a better understanding of the Project, and meet with various relevant Government and private sector stakeholders involved in the Project.
The spokesman further disclosed that Khalid Kaimkhani, Additional Director Food Department (email@example.com), Abdul Shakoor Noonari, Assistant Director-III, PPP Unit (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Zeeshan A. Shaik, International Finance Corporation (email@example.com) have been nominated as resource persons.
WB TEAM HELD MEETINGS FOR IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT WITH BBSYDP & STEVTA
Karachi, March 21: A 7-member world bank team led by Mr. Andreas Blom held a meeting at Provincial Coordination Unit of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP) and sought update working of available rsources and implementation support to the project..
The Provincial Coordinator, BBSYDP Karim Bakhsh Siddiqui briefed the visiting team about the functioning of BBSYDP. Provincial Coordinator BBSYDP has also updated about the progress on implementation plan. He also discussed with the delegation regarding collaboration with TVTC, Saudi Arabia for International Certification. At the meeting, SMS feedback survey came under discussion along-with the collaboration with commercial banks for on stipend delivery system.
The Chairman Technical Committee, BBSYDP, Dr. Islam Hameed also apprised the visiting team about the progress of the BBSYDP throughout the province of Sindh. He said that through this unique and huge project un skilled and unemployed youth of the province getting skill-full training in various sectors. He also informed them about evaluation, financial management and review of third party validation methodology.
The MD, STEVTA Dr Abdul Wahid Uqaili was also briefed the team about evaluation of proposals and final selection, updated technical assistance component activities, packaging and time line of TA assistance and other matters related to implanting agencies.
The Visiting team of World Bank also held a meeting with Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sindh Agha Jan Akhter in the Chief Minister’s House where they exchanged matters pertaining to progress, evaluation of the BBSYDP & future action plans including Sindh Skill Development Project Implementation Support Program(SSDPISP).
The delegation appreciated the efforts taken by the BBSYDP for providing skill-full and trade-wise trainings to the youth and declared it as the stronger partner in the field of the technical, vocational and self employment generation etc.
MINISTER EDUCATION TAKES NOTICE OF CLOSED SCHOOLS IN SEHWAN
Karachi, March 21: Senior Minister for Education and Literacy, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq has taken serious notice of closed schools in Taluka Sehwan. He issued directives to EDO Jamshoro Allah Bachayo Khaskheli to personally visit all schools of the district and ensure teaching process in closed schools and must take action against ghost staff.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he added that on public complaints SDO Sehwan Aleem Otho was suspended and Anwar Odhano was posted as SDO. Minister for Education has also taken notice of fee hike by private schools and has directed officials of Sindh Education Department to take legal action against them and address the problems of parents. He said that education is the fundamental right of every child of Sindh and the public and private sector have to work together to get the sole objective.
SOYEM OF MOTHER OF NAVEED KAMRN BALOCH ON 22ND MARCH
Karachi, March 21: The Soyem of the mother of Secretary Finance, Naveed Kamran Baloch will be held on Thursday, 22nd March, 2012, between Asar & Maghrib at Bungalow No. 7-A West Avenue Defence Phase-I, near DHA Head Office.
Various Ministers of Sindh, Secretaries and number of officers visited the residence of Secretary Finance, Naveed Kamran Baloch and offered fateha on the death off his mother, who passed away yesterday in Karachi.
Karachi, March 20: The mother of Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Finance Department, Government of Sindh passed away today 20th March, 2012. The soyem will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 between the Asar & Maghrib prayers at Bungalow No. 7-A, West Avenue Phase-I DHA, near DHA Head Office.
Minister for Information Ms. Shazia Marri and Secretary Information Qazi Shahid Pervaiz have expressed their deep sorrow over her demise and prayed that Almighty Allah may bless the departed soul and give courage and fortitude to the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss. (Amin)
POLICY OF BROTHERLY RELATIONS WITH TURKEY TO CONTINUE – SHAZIA MARRI
Karachi, March 21: Sindh Minister for Information Ms. Shazia Marri has said that policy of brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey will be pursued in future as well and Pakistanis will continue to be benefited in every field, in collaboration with the Turkish Government.
Provincial Information Minister made these remarks at a meeting with the Turkish Parliamentarians held in the office of speaker Sindh Assembly. Shazia Marri briefed the delegation about the performance of Sindh Assembly. She also informed the delegation about the historical standing of Sindh assembly where founder of Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah delivered his first speech, after Independence.
Minister Information discussed with the Parliamentarians the matters of mutual interests ranging from historical sites in Sindh to Education Sector.
Delegation was led by Burhan Baig while Provincial Minister Sadiq Memon, Secretary Information Qazi Shahid Pervaiz & others were also present on the occasion. Provincial Minister sent off delegation with the gifts of books on Sindh published by Publications Branch of Sindh Information Department and Ajrak.
FOR STORAGE OF WATER JOINT AS WELL AS INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS NEEDED – SHAIKH AFZAL
Karachi, March 21: Provincial Minister for Environment Shaikh Muhammad Afzal has said that Pakistan is faced with depleting reservoirs of water with each passing day and for its storage situation demands of us joint as well as individual efforts.
He made these remarks on the occasion of “World Water Day” which is celebrated on March 22 every year under aegis of United Nations. He emphasized that celebration drew our attention towards importance of fresh water and need of coordinated and durable water management.
Provincial Minister informed that Pakistan and in particular Sindh, is facing shortage of water due to migration of population from rural to urban areas at a mass level, contaminated under ground water, etc.
Minister Environment stressed the need for change in habits & adaptation to such an strategy that could make sure use of water as per needs.
AIG SEEKS REPORT OF KIDNAPPED GIRL WITH IN 24 HOURS
Karachi, March 21: Additional IG Police Karachi Mr. Akhtar Hussain Gorchani has directed the SSP Central to submit a report within 24 hours in connection with the incident of kidnapped baby who had been kidnapped from Government Hospital Liaquatabad. He further directed to submit the complete interrogation report along with facts of the case immediately. He also directed to constitute a special team in this regard and appoint a senior police officer for safe & early recovery of a girl.
ESTABLISHMENT OF 50 BED HOSPITAL IN MANSOOR NANGAR TO PROVIDE BETTER HEALTH FACILITIES TO THE PEOPLE OF ORANGI TOWN DR. SAGHEER AHMED
Karachi, March 21: The Sindh Minister for Health Dr. Sagheer Ahmed has SAID that the Haq Parast leadership is committed to provide modern health facilities to the people of Province and, in this regard, extra ordinary steps are being taken to extend health facilities to the people of neglected areas at their door steps.
This he observed while addressing at the inauguration ceremony of 50 bed hospital at Mansoor Nangar, Orangi Town Karachi.
The Provincial Minister said that there was only one Qatar Hospital for 20 lacs population area of Orangi Town. “After the establishment of this 50 beds hospital, the people of Mansoor Nangar and surrounding areas will get more and better medical facilities”, he added. He remarked that initially the facilities like OPD, Medical & Surgical Wards, Operation Theaters, Laboratory, vaccination for children, 24 Emergency Service would be available in this 50 bed hospital and the facilities would be expended further step by step.
He said now it was the responsibility of the people of area to take care of the hospital assisting the Government.
