SINDH INFORMATION DEPARTMENT IS THE FACE   OF THE GOVERNMENT. QAZI SHAHID

Karachi, September 07:  A farewell ceremony was arranged by the information Department, Government of Sindh in the honour of Ex-Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez today which was also attended by the new Secretary Information Dr. Atta Mohammad Panhwar. On the occasion Mr. Qazi said that it was really wonderful to work in Information department because it was challenging job. He said that the officers of Information Department were very co operative and knew their job well.

He said that the Sindh Information Department is the face of the government. It brings government and masses together. It informs the people what the government is doing for the welfare of the people and what development works are going on.

He said that the role of the Information department was getting more importance day by day and in this demanding and challenging environment, the officers should work harder and come up to expectations of the government and the masses as well.

The newly Secretary Information Dr Atta Mohammad Panhwar in his address said that the role of Information department and Information officers is very vital in this modern era because a great responsibility lies upon them to project government development and to work a bridge between the democratic government and the masses.

He said that it was the era of communication and if anything happened in one part of the world, the people of the other part of the world come to know about these happenings in no time. Now the world had become a global world, we could not hide anything and could not live in isolation, he added. He directed the officers to use all means of communication to have good relations with print and electronic media.

Director General (PRs.) Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, Deputy Secretary Tehseaen Fatima, Directors Mansoor Ahmed Shaikh, Yasmin Memon, Mehnaz Hasan, Saleem Ahmed Qureshi, Zeenat Jahan, Mansoor Ahmed Rajput, Muhammad Yousif Kaboro and Anita Baloch attended this farewell ceremony.

KOREA HAS UTILIZE US$ 30 MILLION FROM ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION FUND ON CONVERSION OF CHANDIKA MEDICAL COLLEGE POWER SUPPLY INTO SOLAR ENERGY: AMBASSADOR H.E CHOONGJOO CHOI

Karachi September 7: Korea is ready to invest in the Energy Sector of Sindh. Korea has utilize US$ 30 million from economic development cooperation fund on conversion of Chandika Medical College Power Supply into Solar Energy and development of children hospital in Larkana under Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). This was expressed by H.E Choongjoo Choi Ambassador of Korea in Pakistan, who visited Sindh Board of investment. The meeting aimed to discuss follow-up on projects initiated during Honorable Chief Minister Sindh’s visit to Korea during May 2011.

H.E. Ambassador appreciated efforts being taken by SBI for the facilitation of investors. H.E Choo also pointed out the hurdles in execution of projects due to the prevailing law and order situation. He showed keen interest by the Korean investor in the field of Energy especially in Coal Fired power plants in Sindh

Chairman SBI, Mohammad Zubair Motiwala welcoming the delegation headed by H.E Choongjoo Choi appreciated Korean Government’s efforts in boosting business ties with Pakistan. He said Korean Government has played pivotal role in uplifting entrepreneurship in Pakistan through direct and indirect investment, but the quantum is very less, which needs to be enhanced.

Mohammad Zubair Motiwala highlighted the areas where both the countries could help each other. Value Addition in the Agriculture sector of Sindh is the area where Korean expertise will be highly appreciated. Apart from Agriculture Korea has excelled in the field of Renewable Energy and Korean assistance under Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) can be utilized if Korean Government can invest in conversion of existing Tube wells in to Solar Energized Pumps providing electricity to theoff grid Villages.Conversion of SCARP Tube Well Pumps into Solar pumps will at one endsave huge amount of money government tis paying as a subsidy and on the other hand will shed huge load of energy consumption from the National Grid. Chairman, SBI also reminded H.E Choongjoo about the commitment of M/S KOSPO for establishing a Wind Farm in Sindh’s Wind Corridor. He emphasized that Wind Resource of Sindh is now well recognized as more than 30 local as well as international companies are already working and we are expecting first wind farm of 49.5 MWsto start operation from next month in Jhimphir, which will be followed by many more.

H.E Choo told Chairman that Agreement between Karachi and Inchion City of Korea is ready and can be signed any time when a delegation from Pakistan will plan to visit Korea. Issues regarding insufficient electric supply to LOTTE was also discussed Mohammad Zubair Motiwala assured the delegation that all possible support will be provided to Korean investor from government end. Ambassador shared that next year on the eve of 30 Anniversary of Diplomatic relationships with Korea he is planning to bring a high level business delegation to Pakistan, which would be of great importance to attract business and boost trade between two countries. He also suggested that a dedicated trade related government official may be posted in Pakistan Embassy in Korea to stream line the issues pertaining to investment in Pakistan. Chairman appreciated the suggestion and assured immediate response to concerned quarters. Both sides affirmed role of their respective governments in enhancing business and assured for further cooperation in future as well.

Karachi, September 07:  Director Regulation Irrigation Department Government of Sindh has informed that River Indus is flowing normal at Gudu, Sukkur and Kotri Barrages and will remain in normal flood at these stations during next 24 hours.  He further informed that River discharges at Gudu, Sukkur and Kotri Barrages as recorded at 06:00 a.m. today are as under:
