Karachi September 25: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that those who talk against President Asif Ali Zardari are the enemy of Pakistan and democracy. These people are politically short of sighted. This he said while talking to various delegations here at his camp office on Tuesday.

            He said that the present Sindh Government had provided 60 thousands jobs to young men on merit. Lacs young men had been given skilled training in order to enable them to earn respectable livelihood and many lacs needy and deserving female had been provided financial assistance though Benazir Income Support Programme.

            Provincial Minister asked them what they had done for the people of Sindh. They have been criticizing the government for nothing recent rain have badly affected and government is providing relief to these people while opposition is just issuing statements.

            He said that Pakistan Peoples Party know how to defend the rights of the people of Sindh and Work was going on Thar Coal Project and the project would solve the energy crisis for good.

RS 300 MILLION AS EMERGENCY FUNDS FOR SCHOOLS – PIR MAZHAR UL HAQ

Karachi, September 25: Sindh Minister for Education & Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq has said that the posts of Primary School Teachers, Junior School Teachers and High School Teachers will be abolished and according to new education policy there will be two cadres only elementary teachers grade 16 and senior elementary teachers grade 17. Allowances for teachers working in rural & urban areas will be at par while 5 % amount has been allocated for the children of teachers in endoment fund that is two billion rupees. This he said while talking to a delegation of Government Secondary Teachers Association Sindh here at his office on Tuesday.

            He said that present democratic government had given the right of time scale to teachers. It had a burden on National Exchequer however government was working for the welfare of the teachers committee. Provincial Minister added, ‘On the pattern of College Lecturers the allowances School Teachers will be kept a par. 800 Primary Schools have been upgraded to elementary schools. According to a new education policy all primary schools will gradually abolished and converted into elementary schools. It is a need of the hour that short term & long term policies should be adopted for the promotion of education in Sindh.

            Pir Mazhar ul Haq stressed upon the office bearers of teachers to increase enrolment in government schools. Rupees 300 million have been allocated as emergency fund for schools to over come the shortage furniture, provision pure drinking water & sanitary. World Bank has given 100 million dollars for teachers recruitment, free text books, stipends for students rehabilitation of schools etc. While accepting certain demands of government secondary school teachers Provincial Minister said that no quota could be allocated for deceased employees of education department however ex-cadre officer would be sent to their actual place of postings. On this occasion he announced to award running scale to untrained high school teachers and directed secretary Education to give suggestion for group insurance policy. He warned the teachers that as government employees it was quite illegal and unconstitutional to hold press conferences and to protest elected democratic government. Teachers should work as a role model for society. In a meeting Secretary Education Mr. Mukhtiar Hussain Soomro, Additional Secretary Dilawar Mangi, Director Schools Shams Dal office bearers of government secondary teachers association Sindh Muhammad Saffar Memon, Darya Khan Nizamani, Abdul Rasheed Chandio , Syed Abdullah Shah, Panial Shaikh, Ghulam Rasool and others were also presents.

SINDH POLICE ASKED TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST POWER THEFT

Karachi, September 25: Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas has advised the Secretaries of Provincial Government to nominate focal persons from their department and furnish their particulars to the Energy Department, for reconciliation of Electricity Bills of the respective Departments, within 02 days. He also advised the I.G. Sindh Police to Coordinate with HESCO & SEPCO, in addition to KESCO, for taking legal action against the “Power theft”. He was presiding high level meeting this morning. Raja Muhammad Abbas emphasized upon ensuring liaison amongst the Sindh’s administrative department and other nation building departments viz: SEPCO, HESCO, KESCO etc.

            Senior consultant energy department, Saeed A. Sethar apprised the meeting that Focal persons from Health and Irrigation Departments have been nominated in 13 and 07 districts respectively. The ACS Home Wasim Ahmed, assured that list of focal persons from Police and Prisons Department would be provided to Energy Department within a couple of days.

            HESCO & KESCO official informed the meeting that 526 complaints of Power that were reported to Police (UD8 of HESCO & # 8 of KESCO), of these 21 FIRs (of HESCO) had been registered.

            Secretary Energy Suhail Rajput informed that a plan to reconcile the dues of HESCO, SEPCO, KESCO is being preferred, which would be finalized by 5th October, 2012.

            I.G. Police Fayyaz Leghari, pledged to coordinate with Power Distributing organizations to eradicate power theft, lawfully.

COMPLAINANT GETS REFUND OF BOOKED FLAT ON INTERVENTION OF OMBUDSMAN WITH MARK-UP AFTER 14 YEARS

Karachi, September 25: On the directives of Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik, the complainant gets back refund of Rs. 3,86,000/- with mark-up, deposited for booking a flat in a scheme which was abandoned/cancelled by Lyari Development Authority (LDA).

            According to details, one Muhammad Afzal of Quetta complained to Ombudsman this year that he had deposited an amount of Rs. 2,95,000/- in favour of Lyari Development Authority Karachi on account of booking a flat in beach avenue project Karachi in 1998. He further stated that the scheme was cancelled and the amount deposited by the applicants was refunded to them but the Lyari Development Authority did not refund his amount, despite repeated approaches on the plea that his refund case was stuck up with finance department of LDA.

            The Provincial Ombudsman ordered enquiry into the case and directed LDA to submit detailed report of the case. As a result of investigation by the Ombudsman Secretariat the LDA agreed to refund the amount to the complainant within two months. The LDA as per commitment submitted a cheque of Rs. 3,85,956/- (including mark-up) in favour of complainant Muhammad Afzal which was handed over to complainant’s son Muhammad Aamir Aziz by Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik at a simple ceremony at Ombudsman Secretariat recently. The complainant thanked the Ombudsman for redressing his long standing grievance.
