KARACHI: SSGC reaffirmed its commitment to serve the marginalized communities by presenting cheques to more than 20 collaborative partners in CSR initiatives for FY 2016-17, in a special ceremony held at the Company’s Head Office on October 27, 2017.
Representatives of CSR partner organizations received cheques from Amin Rajput, MD, SSGC. The ceremony also featured short videos prepared in-house by SSGC’s Corporate Communications team that emphasized on collaboration between the Company and each of the partner organizations.
The ceremony was marked by SSGC’s befitting tribute to the late founder of Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC). MALC’s CEO Dr. Mervn Lobo, Senior Manager Dr. Mutahir Zia, Archbishop of Karachi Joseph Coutts, social worker Sarim Burney, Yoga expert Yogi Wajahat, Imran Noor (PPL), TV anchor Nusrat Haris, Shahbaz Islam, Head of Corporate Communications, SSGC and Amin Rajput, MD, SSGC paid glowing tributes to the selflessness and devotion of Dr. Pfau for the humanity. The visiting guests lauded SSGC’s CSR driven efforts in the areas of education, health, environment and community development. A short documentary that paid tribute to the ‘light to the lepers’ Dr. Ruth Pfau, scripted and developed by SSGC’s Corporate Communications team, was screened at the ceremony.
Monetary support has been provided to a number of NGOs, public and private sector organizations including IBA Karachi, The Citizens Foundation, SIUT, WWF-Pakistan, Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre, Darul Sukun, Thardeep Rural Development Program, Afzal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation, The Indus Hospital, Fatima Kidney Care Centre, Help International Welfare Trust, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, SOS Village, Thardeep Rural Development Program, Disable Welfare Foundation, Omair Sana Foundation, Imkaan Welfare Organization and Alamgir Welfare Trust and Markaz-e-Umeed.
The ceremony featured inspiring remarks of a number of beneficiaries of SSGC and their collaborative partners’ CSR-driven efforts in the areas of education and healthcare. They thanked SSGC and their partner organizations for either contributing towards meeting their educational expenses or helping save their lives from chronic ailments through monetary support.
A special memento dedicated to the memory of Dr. Ruth Pfau was presented to the team of MALC at the event by Amin Rajput, MD, SSGC.
In the end, a fine tableau performance by the special children of Markaz-e- Umeed ensured that the evening ended on an uplifting and patriotic note.
