Switzerland Enhances Trade Relations with Pakistan

KARACHI: Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE)in Zurich and the Swiss Business Council Karachi (SBC)have signed a service performance agreement for cooperation in the field of trade enhancement and investment promotion between Switzerland and Pakistan.

“S-GE (equivalent to TDAP and BOI) considers Pakistan as a significant market in South Asia region and therefore an important destination to promote Swiss exports and attract investment in and from Switzerland”, said Mr. Beat Ineichen, S-GE’s Senior Consultant for South Asia, who is currently on a fact finding mission to Pakistan and visiting Pakistani companies and trade organizations in Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

Mr. Mujtaba Rahim, President of SBC and Chief Executive Officer / President of Archroma Pakistan (formerly Clariant Pakistan) and Mr. Ineichen signed the agreement in the presence of the representative of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Karachi and members of the SBC.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rahim added “Swiss companies operating in Pakistan are fully aware of the national market demand and with this agreement SBC, in close collaboration and patronage of the Embassy and the Consulate General of Switzerland, will work more efficiently as an extended arm of S-GE to introduce new and improved products and services from Swiss companies as well as attract Pakistani entities to do business in Switzerland”.
