Karachi, 9 May 2012: Mr. Tariq Puri, Chief Executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) assured full support for enhancing trade promotion activities in the Czech Republic. Mr. Ji?í Nestával, President of the Czech Middle-Asian Chamber of Commerce (CSOK) and other members of the Czech delegation called on Chief Executive TDAP today and discussed the areas of joint collaboration.

Mr. Puri emphasized that being the member of European Union, the support of Czech Republic is important for implementing the concession package for Pakistani products into the European market to increase the quantum of bilateral trade between the two countries which currently hovers round US$ 36 million.

Mr. Puri stated that projects being offered by Pakistan are highly attractive in terms of profitability, especially in the energy sector. Furthermore, Pakistan’s Agriculture is robust and nature has endowed Pakistan, which is 2nd largest Buffalo Meat producer;   2nd largest Buffalo Milk producer; 3rd largest Cottonseed producer; 3rd largest Chili producer; 4th largest Goat Meat producer; 5th largest Mango producer; 7thlargest Wheat producer. He stressed on Czech delegation to look into projects for value addition in the agriculture supply chain, especially in the rice.

TDAP is fully supportive of Karachi Chamber of Commerce for strengthening  the trade relations. TDAP will indeed support proposal for “Display and Retail Outlet” where TDAP could assist in identification and supply of products meeting the demands and quality standards of Czech Republic. He added that TDAP is currently in a process of establishing the Skill Development Centers where entrepreneurship of Pakistani women, especially living in rural areas, would be utilized for developing products and these would be marketed in the Czech Republic to create a bond and a long term relationship between the people of both the nations especially the younger generations.

Mr. Puri assured TDAP’s full support for holding of Mango extravaganza  in Prague in the coming mango season. Mr. Puri supported the proposal of holding of Agriculture Exhibition in September 2012 in Prague where TDAP, KCCI and CSOK could jointly collaborate for the exhibition and plan to hold a Fashion Show. Information Technology is another area where Czech delegation could explore the joint ventures, he added.
