Thailand Prime Minister visit to Islamabad – Pakistan


Karachi (PR): A high level Thai delegation , led by the honorable Prime Minister of Thailand, visited Islamabad today for a two day visit to explore Pak-Thai trade and investment potential. The said delegation comprises of 28 major Thai business houses, who were accompanied by Dr. Nazim Latif (Commercial Counselor, Pak embassy, Thailand)

In connection with this visit, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) arranged a seminar on ‘Trade and Investment’ in a local hotel at Islamabad. The seminar, in addition to the Thai business delegation which was

comprised of leading business houses of Thailand doing the business of millions dollars was also attended by some 70 large scale Pakistani exporters. The seminar was chaired by the Secretary (TDAP) Ms. Rabia Javeri Agha and the proceedings were addressed by Ms. Shahida Qaiser  ( Director, TDAP), who highlighted vital bilateral trade opportunities between the two countries as well as current challenges such as the sizeable trade imbalance of over 700 million dollars which adversely affects Pakistan.

The seminar was followed by business to business meetings between the visiting Thai business houses and the Pakistani exporters. These interactions are expected to bridge trade gaps between the participating countries and to significantly enhance bilateral trade.
