Portugal has today recorded 13,103 new infections, plus 28 deaths associated with Covid-19 and a reduction in hospitalisations, the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) indicated today

Lisbon, Portugal (By/Naveed Ahmed): According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, 1,763 people are hospitalized today, 69 fewer than on Monday, while in intensive care units there are 111 people, minus three, although not all hospitalizations are due to Covid-19.

The number of active cases decreased today to 467,878, to be 7,738 fewer than on Monday, and in the last 24 hours, 20,813 people were reported to have recovered, for a total of 2,717,509 since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the last 24 hours, 15,093 contacts were no longer under surveillance, but the health authorities still keep 474,904 people in these conditions.

In the North region, there were 1,217,470 infections and 6,400 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated total of 479,301 infections and 3,700 deaths.

The Algarve has a total of 130,303 infections and 678 deaths and Alentejo has 113,829 cases and 1,167 deaths from Covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 75,626 infections and 184 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 53,797 cases and 85 deaths.

Since March 2020, 10,991 men and 9,903 women have died from Covid-19.
