Oslo, Norway (by/By Ahmed Tanveer): – The Norwegian Electric Car AssociationRecord said a huge record of electric cars sold in Norway in August. In August, 72% of all new cars sold in Norway were electric cars. For the first time, the proportion is over 50% in all the country’s counties. In August, a total of 381 new electric cars appeared on Norwegian roads every day, new figures from the Road Traffic Information Council (OfV) show. That corresponds to 72% of all new cars. The old record was 67% in December 2020. In all of the country’s former 19 counties, the proportion was over 50%. This is the first time that electric cars make up the majority of all new cars in Norway in all parts of the country.

“We are spoiled with electric car records in Norway, but this time the districts really contributed… It is definitely the end of the time when electric cars were only a big city phenomenon,” Unni Berge, head of communication and public relations at the Norwegian Electric Car Association, stated. She believes that better charging networks in “District Norway” and greater access to cars with long-range and luggage space boosted the development. The NAF believes the figures show that the authorities must put in place better charging infrastructure quickly. The NAF has estimated that there is a shortage of almost 500 fast chargers. Norway’s electric car policy is a success, but the charging infrastructure along the roads has to follow the developments,” Camilla Ryste, communications manager at the NAF, accentuated.
